There needs new updates for the long term game. After you set the airline up it gets very boring. There are heaps of ideas in the suggestions forum.

I have just started a new airline after having a break for a while. I want to see more4 developments in the game.

I think the boredom comes when there is no competition.  There are posts on "Feature Request" topic on it, but #1 in my book would be ability for passengers to transfer flights.  It would allow more direct, but more importantly, indirect competition.

But introduction of connecting flights would need re-balancing of the demand system, so it is a big project.

In a very long game, I think you would want to see big airlines fight it out.  Even in normal games.

One thing that limits competition is lack of slots.  2 huge  airlines can't fight it out, because they (likely) have secured majority of slots, preventing any serious competition to enter their bases.  So maybe a quick fix to allow more competition would be ability of grow slots based on demand (for slots).  Possibly, removing limits of how many a/c can be based on new bases may enhance competition.

Just brainstorming...

I think I agree with this... But, it will be out of realistic if the slots grow way more than in real life.

In real life, airline write their own history.  Atlanta is the busiest airport because Delta built its hub there.  Without Delta being there, it would have been a far smaller airport.

I know that in real life, it is extremely difficult to add more runways at some airports (JFK, LGA come to mind), but at others, it is possible.

I think the starting number of slots should remain the same, but the growth should come from demand.  When an ailine tries to use a slot that is completely used, a price for additional slot should reflect cost to build / upgrade runways, so the cost would be much higher.

Maybe the way it could work is that this upgrade would "buy" additional increment, say 10 slots (for all time slots).  The airline paying for the upgrade could get half of those slots (included in the price) for some period (say 1 year).  The second half of the slots would be available to other airlines.

Im just not all in for an "unlimited game".   Once the global giants have secured themselves, then what?   In this game, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

It might keep the big guys busy, as they are often who more complain and suffer from boredom.
