Unlimited game?

I've noticed that all the game worlds are time-limited.

But would there ever be any chance of creating a game world of unlimited-duration, just for those of us who like doing some really long-term planning and development?  What kind of interest would there be in that?

+1

It would be interesting to go from 1940s, all the way to 2020, or from beginning of Jet Age to end of Air Travel Boom.

Curse

Me too.

I have posted an idea like this some weeks ago, even with financing ideas for sami etc.

If you think a while, unlimited is not possible since the time moves faster than real time, and we cannot go into something like year 2200 for example. ;D

But some 1950-2020 is basically doable, but don't wish to do that yet as there are needs to enhance the long-term playability of the sim.

Now there's something I would definitely be interested in!  ::)

P.S. I mean that 1950-2020

it would be good if player nos are restricted for this. not 550 players, may be 250-300 max. and few restictions (if samis wants)

I don't see why not...if you're worried about the fact that you don't know what kind of aircraft will be available indefinitely into the future, I think the people who are interested in it would be fine with just keeping up with real-world modern aircraft, even if it means that the 787 is "state of the art" in the year 2500 in the game.

Woooow.....   2500???
1950 to 2500 rated 30 minutes IRL / game day ...... that makes around 11 years IRL !!!

1950 to 2020 at 30 minutes IRL / game day = 532 days IRL - not bad I think

There is a life beside AWS? Don't tell lies to us!!!

Well, no one's suggesting it become the sole mode of play.  It'd just be one option among many for those who are interested--which, if this thread is representative of AWS players as a whole, it seems like there are plenty.

Boredom is expected in every game once you got your target achieved. When all the slots gone, all the potential routes flown, all the nice planes owned by you, ect....

'Unlimited game' might delay or reduce the boredom by providing us more 'chances' to update our fleet (from props to B787), exploring new routes (slots grow annually, demand changing time to time).

Dealing with limited slots is by far the most annoying thing, IMO.  As far as slots growing annually, is it by 1 or by a percentage?  I made it a point to watch 2 airports.  12 months are about up, and I have not noticed them to grow.

I did notice growth in slots, but, I guess, it may take some airports more than a year to grow by a slot.

good luck then mate, if u can say that i can say whatever I want. When I don't like something I dont go for it, just expressing my views too. BTW have played AWS a tad longer than you .

I think games should be shorter than they are now. Either that or the clock sped up. It's hard to keep interest for so long. Just about all the original competition in Air Travel Boom is gone now. I've defeated all my old enemies, mostly from attrition and there's still MONTHS to play. I've had 4 bases for ages. My airline is huge and barely manageable.

Don't argue mates. Here's the answer to all your doubts...

GDK

JumboShrimp, not all airports will grow. Some do and some don't, some do grow but not annually. As far as I know, it grows by 1 departure every year.

Regarding unlimited game play vs shorter game play, it is all about the same issue -> BOREDOM.
Shorter game - End before the boredom take over the game.
Unlimited (extreme long) game - When boredom comes, time frame will reduce it's effect by making us busy replacing fleet and so on...
