Scheduling 2.0 tweaks

Improvements

  • Minor UI tweaks to Scheduling based on user feedback:
    • When buying slots to a route already in schedule (from flight's popup -> Buy Airport Slots), the dialog now shows the slot availability and costs in a similar manner than route editor.
    • Improved handling of scheduling's display change events, e.g. how the data is re-drawn after an action (e.g. Add Flight) for better page display speed at user's end.
    • Aircraft in maintenance shows the maintenance completion date.
    • Add Flight dialog has a new "Jump to last flight" link when the dialog has many (10+) flights ready for assignment.
    • "Change Registration" dialog now has cursor focused on the reg.nr. field on open.
    • Minor layout tuning in wide desktop view (>1650px) to registration and action buttons area to give more space to scheduling flight bars.
    • Changed the threshold of "narrow" and "wide" desktop views from 1440px to 1650px for more horizontal space for flights.
    • All checkboxes in Scheduling dialog windows, such as "Show all aircraft (swap mode)", "Buy Airport Slots", "Swap registration numbers of aircraft" and "Swap nicknames of aircraft", now remember the last state they were in regardless if you close the popup window. This is game world and device independent save since the checkbox status is stored on your device's local memory.
    • Move Schedule dialog's fleet group selection is also memorized in device's local memory based on previous selection. By default (no memorized selection, or no such fleet) it defaults always to the current fleet group of the aircraft it was clicked from (if you have only 1 plane in that fleet then it also reverts to All Fleets).
    • Made Add Flight and Move Schedule vertical scrollbars for flight/aircraft data section more visible.
    • Increased visibility of vertical divider lines between weekdays in scheduling.
    • Move Schedule dialog shows if the target aircraft is currently in maintenance (and when maintenance is completed).

Fixes

  • Minor fixes in new Scheduling page:
    • Aircraft outside HQ was not counted correctly when moving schedules between two fleets in new Scheduling.
    • Fixed logic on how pre-delivery aircraft with routes are shown in Move Schedule dialog.
    • Aircraft pop-up's "View Routes" link did not filter correctly at "Manage Routes page".
    • Fixed logic error in Set Maintenance dialog where plane due for delivery, and not yet delivered to airline, could in some cases show A/B checks as expired.
    • Removed the black-background tooltip helpers from scheduling's right-side action buttons, they sometimes slowed down the rendering of the page at user's end, especially if 100+ aircraft on the single page was shown.
    • Move Schedule dialog's error messages did not respect airline's ICAO/IATA code display preference.
    • Techstop airports in the route sometimes caused a Move Schedule to fail.
    • Flight and B check scheduling bars end positions did not align properly on Monday after an overnight flight/maintenance.
    • Aircraft with no registration where always not sorted as first in the listing.
    • Fixed a few broken links.

    • Route Planning links added to route tooltip.
    • Direct link to aircraft info from registration number column added.
    • Add Flight dialog scrolling issues fixed.
    • Error messages inside dialogs can be closed if needed.

Scheduling updates (in Scheduling v.2.0 Beta)

New features

  • Scheduling: You can now buy missing airport slots directly from the schedule view.
    • If a scheduled route is missing airport slots, a "Buy Airport Slots" link will appear in the route's tooltip, allowing you to purchase the missing slots without removing and re-adding the route.
  • Scheduling: Move Schedule functions activated:
    • You can move schedules between the same fleet, or to any other fleet, as long as the aircraft is at the same base airport.
    • New: SWAP mode. You can swap the entire schedule between two aircraft, even with different fleet groups. So the schedule of the "receiving aircraft" does not have to be empty in order to transfer schedules between planes.
    • Aircraft registration can also be swapped during the move.
  • Scheduling: Move Schedule to another fleet handles the turn-around times now smarter than before:
    • By default the system uses a new "Smart mode" where it tries to adjust the flight departure and turnarounds times in a way that the schedule conversion is most likely to succeed.
    • In "Smart mode" it first attempts to use the current route departure times for each leg, and if not possible it then attempts with the a/c fleet specific user-defined turnaround times, and finally reverts to minimum turnaround times.
    • You can also manually choose to use original flight departure times, use the fleet default turnaround times, or system-minimum turnaround times.
  • Scheduling: Added a new "Detailed View" / "Week Overview" mode system to Scheduling in mobile.
    • "Week Overview" is default view. This shows all weekdays in one glance but does not provide any details of the routes.
    • To move to the detailed scheduling, click on the magifying glass icon on the action buttons row (at the same time the bottom section's horizontal weekday scroller appears). Planes can be zoomed one-by-one at this stage.
    • This "Default mobile view" setting is also saveable at Dashboard -> Settings -> Interface settings for your convenience.
  • Scheduling: Made the Add Flight dialog expandable to fit more details into it.
    • "Add Flight listing detail level" setting added at Dashboard -> Settings -> Interface. This controls the layout of the "Add Flight" dialog's data. The options are "Compact data" or "Expanded data".

Improvements

  • Scheduling: Reduced the size of mobile view's action icons a bit to make the vertical space more compact.
  • Scheduling: Updated mobile view's horizontal scroller, and added Mo-Su weekday title view to make it more obvious to use (n.b. the scroller's weekday titles are clickable and take you to the weekday also).
  • Scheduling: Various minor UI tweaks and improvements in many places.
  • The website's header navigation is now always in the compact format when in game pages to save space.
  • DH114 Heron 1 aircraft image replaced.

Fixes

  • Other minor layout fixes to new Scheduling page.
  • Keyboard ENTER press did not work for some of the new UI's modal dialogs (e.g. "Add Flight" in Scheduling).

New Scheduling (Beta) and Airport Slots view

New features

  • Scheduling v.2.0 BETA released to full public usage:
    • This is the fully new and totally rebuild Scheduling page, already previewed earlier.
    • New v.2.0 UI layout with full mobile compatibility.
    • Technically much more advanced and lightweight and thus much faster to use compared to the old page.
    • All features, apart from Move Schedule, work at this page currently. You may already use this page for all normal Scheduling.
    • New feature: Buy Slots when scheduling:
      • If a route is missing slots, the Add Flight dialog automatically suggests the slots purchase. Same rules and prices apply as when editing from Edit Routes area.
      • Please keep a close eye on this to make sure the slot availability and costs are accurate compared to the old editor, and please actively report all issues!
    • New feature: Clear Schedule view has now the ability to choose not to clear the A/B checks when clearing the aircraft schedule.
    • New feature: Ability to set the B check to end at the same time & day as A check.
    • New feature: Route mouseover tooltip shows any possible route payload limitations.
    • New feature: Set Registration menu shows the aircraft registration format, as well as your custom format for that base/fleet group.
    • New feature: A new automation "Set next available registration" appears at the Registration menu if a custom aircraft reg.format is saved, and it allows you to fetch the next free registration number for this plane.
    • New feature: Aircraft Nickname can now contain special characters, even smileys, and this works for the keyword search too.
    • New feature: More filtering to the Search Routes area compared to the old page.
    • Work in progress:
      • Move Schedule feature is not yet completed.
      • Plans are also made for a full & native "7-day scheduling" concept, but there are still a few technical hurdles on this. More details later.
  • Airport Slots view page fully updated:
    • The detailed view of airport slots (under Airport Information) is fully updated.
    • New v.2.0 UI layout with full mobile compatibility.
    • New 3rd-level view to slots of certain day & certain hour. As before, click on the individual slot numbers to view details.
    • Added slot usage statistics:
      • Total slots used (%)
      • Daytime slots used (%)
    • Improved drill-down navigation between time levels.
    • The 'Slot Allocation Per Airline' chart now shows only top-15 airlines, and rest are grouped under 'Other airlines' to keep the pie chart more clear.
    • NOTE: This new page is not yet visible in the "popup" mode (e.g. when clicking the slots icon from route editor). You'll find link to the new page from the full 'Airport Information' page's bottom section.

Improvements

  • Improved schedule-based delay calculations:
    • The system now more accurately reflects the real ground time pressure between flights when assigning routes to an aircraft. Single-route aircraft correctly retain outstation turnaround delay potential.
    • Removing a single flight now also correctly re-counts the flight delays of the aircraft's remaining routes.
  • In the backend the entire airport slots system has been migrated to v.2.0 AirwaySim Core, and all new v.2.0 UI pages now use the new system. Old pages continue to use the old code.

Fixes

  • Mobile layout breakpoint changed from 850 to 900px since mobile layout did not trigger for all phones on landscape mode.
  • Minor styling / UI corrections in various places.
  • Route editor (old UI) did not update newly purchased slots to the balance sheet as assets.
  • Minor fixes & additions to dark mode color definitions.

New charts, updated runway calculations, and minor changes

New features

  • New charts/graphs module taken into use:
    • A new modern framework for graphical charts has been introduced to the game interface.
    • As the first step, new "Cost Distribution by Fleet Type" and "Cost Distribution by Engine Group" charts are added to the Fleet Commonality page. This acts as the first "public technical test" of this new charting system.
    • This system will gradually replace the current charting system as pages are updated to the v2.0 UI.

Improvements

  • Updates to aircraft runway performance calculations:
    • Improved aircraft runway performance modelling (takeoff and landing) in the cases the aircraft is runway limited and route payload has to be reduced.
    • The previous version had some inaccuracies especially with landing runway length calculations, but these are now handled better and have less inconsistencies.
    • Generally speaking the landing runway calculation is a bit more restrictive now than in the previous version, but it should be more accurate and reflect real operations better.
    • This update has been implemented to the History and the Future game, and any games which have started or are starting after that. (According to our check of all existing routes in HatF game, only 0.05% of all routes will see small changes of payload limits downwards.)
  • Improved a few aircraft images for better quality based on user feedback.
  • Improved user access control to the game.
  • Further behind-the-scenes improvements to backend systems, development workflow, and testing tools.
  • General overall improvements to code quality and standards, thanks to our new development and testing tools.

Fixes

  • Various minor fixes to dark mode colors in old UI elements based on user feedback.
  • Game time converter did not work on Safari.
  • Minor fix in alliance invitation automatic decline message upon airline closure.
  • Fleet Commonality, Scheduling and Settings pages did not sort alphabetically if manufacturer name started with a lowercase letter.
