New Beginner's World #2

A new Beginner's World #2 scenario is now open!

Join here: https://www.airwaysim.com/game/#game522

AirwaySim has always two concurrent Beginner's World scenarios running (BW#1 and BW#2). They both use the same settings and same time frame.

Our beginner game series is aimed for all newbies and other players wishing to test different playing styles in an easier environment. Duration of one scenario is always approximately 60 real days. The scenario runs for ~10 game years with a speed of 25 minutes per day, and all of AirwaySim's main features are included in these scenarios.

When a BW scenario ends, a new one will start within a few days. The two scenarios are running in parallel so that there is always one BW scenario start every month.

Airline Generations game is now open

The Airline Generations game is one of our epic-length airline sim scenarios. The game starts in the 1950s and runs all the way into 2035. If you like long-term planning, fleet transitions, and seeing the industry evolve, this is the one for you!

This game world follows the standard settings for long AirwaySim games:

  • Time span: 1950 - 2035, at 30 minutes per game day.
  • Normal difficulty level, Epic length scenario.
  • All airports worldwide and all aircraft models included.
  • Overall play duration is about 1.5 years.
  • Special rule: Startup selection of aircraft is limited. Only DC-3, Li-2 and C-46 aircraft are available at the start.

Game play related settings specific for this scenario:

  • The used aircraft selection is very limited. The initial aircraft selection consists only of three different aircraft types, and none of these are capable of flying long distances, so plan your start-up accordingly. Remember to utilize technical stops on your routes to fly longer distances.
  • The AI brokers have placed orders for factory-new aircraft (including long-haul types), and these will appear in the used market after some time. Player orders to the new aircraft market are also available, but first deliveries begin only after approx. 1.5 game years.
  • You have been allocated $1.5 million in start-up cash, of which $1.0 million is loans. The airport slots are not cheap so you will need to keep a good cash balance.
  • The initial cargo and passenger demand is rather low, but both will grow over time.
  • If you are using the Easy Start mode, you should pick the short-haul airline as your starting mode. In some cases the Easy Start mode might not be able to pick suitable routes for you, and then you must revert to Advanced Starting mode.
  • Please remember that this game follows the standard and real-world setup for the economy and political rules. The expansion outside your own HQ country does not become available until the 1990s and onwards (refer to manual for the basing rules).
  • This is the first scenario that has been set up using our new v.2.0 game admin tools, so please report any inconsistencies and issues using our bug tracker (search for existing reports of same issue before opening a new report).

If it has been a while since you started at early stages in a major AirwaySim game, here are a few reminders and tips:

  • The game clock is paused for the first day and will start moving after 24 hrs.
  • The used aircraft market will refresh several times during the first static 24 hour day (but you can only make two orders for aircraft during the first day).
  • There is a good supply of used aircraft available to begin with, but the used aircraft market will soon become limited and the popular aircraft types are sold/leased very quickly. Take care when picking the aircraft you plan to use and plan to order aircraft directly from the manufacturers.
  • New aircraft ordering will be available after the time starts to move (= from day 2 of the simulation), but it is of course always recommended to lease several used aircraft to begin with.
  • Be patient with the route sales figures since your Route Image grows slowly. Do not spend all your cash on planes at once, remember to leave a good reserve. It takes time to gain profits and there might be unexpected early problems.
  • Some popular airports will become limited on airport slots soon. This is normal and you should use larger aircraft or other airports in that case. Please remember that slots are only available when the airport infrastructure expands.
  • Consider joining an alliance from early stages of the game, they are great resources for improving your game play (tips and help from fellow players).

Welcome to join the latest AirwaySim airline game and have fun!

Updated game launch notifications

We've enhanced the Upcoming Games notification process:

The Upcoming Games page now lists our planned game worlds up to six months in advance.

You can easily subscribe to game launch notifications for the game worlds you are interested in.

We will then send you up to two e-mails for each game: one when the exact launch date is confirmed, and another when the game world opens and is ready to join.

As before, new game worlds will also appear in the Game Area a few days before launch. However, there is no longer a separate pre-join step. Your notification subscription automatically reserves your place in the upcoming game world, and you do not need to spend any Credits until you actually join after the game launches.
