Your in debt because you have a small old aircraft and you are trying to fly routes that major airlines like myself have the majority of the market share on lock down!

I spent a good chunk of one of the beta games in debt to some degree. I also owned most of my planes, and had a very high airline value despite said debt, and tended to dwell somewhere in the top 30 out of a field of 200, despite having staked out somewhat marginal territory.

Going into debt at the right time for the right reasons is hardly a bad thing.
