Well Santa Clause aint real! but anyway....

I work in manegment for airline "X" so it would be no trouble for me to obtain at all!  ;D

Robbie

Kontio

If I was a manager of airline X, I would not sign documents giving away rights to my trademark or logo. However, since you work in the business, I'll take your word for this.

DJRobbieD

The dont sign there rights away as such.... all the do is allow person X to use the name in "Virtual Simulations" but can not be used for any other purpose.... and the only airline known not to allow rights to there name is Easy Jet,

Here look at these sites for MS Flight Simulator, Most are even indorsed by there parent airlines:  ;D
http://www.bvair.com/ < Closed at the moment but is endorsed by British Airways

Well theres loads more, but ill leave you to google it.  ;)

Alitalia - AH-LIT-AR-LEE-AR
Alitalias - AH-LIT-TAR-LEE-ASS! < Excuse the swearing hehe.

These law suits are only to do with pronounciation..... to avoid confusion.... okay so i get a letter from Alitalia ther company name is on the letter i know who im dealing with.... there is zilch problemo!

Im driving to work..... i hear on the radio.... "Fly with EAZY JET for £1" (Pretending EAZY JET is another airline) so i go online to EASY JET and i dont see £1 fares  :( but infact EAZY JET lets say is a new low cost airline.... if that makes sense.

EXAMPLE 2:

A radio station "ABSOLUTE" got sued by the vodka brand "ABSOLUT" "ABSOLUTE" is a very common word and pronounced differently "ABSOLUT" lossed the case on the basis it is pronounced differently  ;D

Robbie

Robbie. A fair try, but you're forgetting that not everybody pronunciates it in the english way. For example, if you'd be Italian, you'd not say it's that different. Subject settled. :)

Kontio, I feel absolutely the same way about the names. Why try with any real names, have some originality.

It is true that some companies do give permissions to use their colors just for a simple reason of extra marketing without a cost. BUT!!! Kontio has it right, anyone can forge a letter of approval. Just take the example the guy in Australia who forged his diplomas etc. and was working for Qantas as (can't remember correctly) some kind of a responsible mechanic. This is the life we're living in.

How about callsigns/flt# prefixes ? There is someone in the game #2 who is using RYR. It can be easily connected with Ryanair, airline using it is named Ryan Airways.

Sami

Three letters in some particular order is not a property to any airline. Unless it's a trademark like KLM .. or CIA, 3M or something like that. ;)

But anyway, the administration will issue notifications to the players having real airline names or logos. The rules will be also made more visible for future games.

i'm not sure if it's been mentioned already, but "Mercey Air" in game 1, as there is a helicopter company in africa or something using that name. it's also REALLY close to my airline's name: "Merseyair". ;)

DJRobbieD

Sami British European allowed?

Ive researched it and the legal name of that airline is now FlyBE.

Thanks

Robbie

yes, but there is a "Mercy Air" in real life, which is my point. Also, I don't see Singapore Airlines being forced into bankruptcy because their name is a city.....geees!  ;D

DJRobbieD

Hmmmm what about if i called it

Britsh The coutry European The continent Airways

Big Ern

Guys, you're talking about different things. Two are talking about Mercy/Merseyair and one about British European --> FlyBe.

Robbie, read the quote on the reply from Seattle...

DJRobbieD

  Oh yeah

Oh well British European is not trademarked i checked =]

FlyBE used to be Jersey European, Never British European & British European closed in 1974  ;D

Is any action even being taken against violating airlines?  ??? I still see Indigo (by lavence737) operating and issuing continous press releases.

While not a commercial airline, per se, they are a real entity providing private jet service.

Game #1, Ektihad, uses real logo and also Etihad ad.
