Well... EZ Jet would do the trick! :p
But yeah... I guess that people will have to start to be more imaginative (actually I have a couple of names planned for the next game I play, even knowing that Britannia is a fairly general name).
And as for the alliances... well... time to start thinking some new names! :p

The real world one is called alitalia!

The italian carrier? Is that what your on about? There going bust anyway LOL

Big Ern

Umm... Yes DJRobbie, Alitalia. Which by the way is not going bust. My point was that EVERYONE knows it's Alitalia as it's been on the news quite a lot. Thought you worked in the business as well?!?

Cheers!  :)

DJRobbieD

The point i was making is the game airline is called Alitalias wich is pronounced completly different to Alitalia, althought there is only 1letter difference, because of the different pronounciations it would not stand up in court  ;)

Robbie  :)

I'm not sure what you mean that they would be pronounced so much differently? I'm genuinely interested to hear this. :)

But the pronunciation on the other hand doesn't matter as Sami stated earlier about using real world names & logos. The names are too close to each other.

In Game 3 a company Sky Express:

These companys use 100% same name as in the real world!

Dragon airlines

Actually, Dragonair's full name is Hong Kong Dragon Airlines Limited. I don't see any problem with a user using Dragon Airlines.

Are you kidding? They obviously use the name Dragonair in their marketing, it says Dragonair on their livery, etc, so it really doesn't matter what the full name of the company is. OK, Dragonair vs. Dragon Airlines - it's not the same but if trademark infringement (or whatever the correct term is, I'm not a lawyer) is the issue here I would not take the risk.

Alitalia - AH-LIT-AR-LEE-AR
Alitalias - AH-LIT-TAR-LEE-ASS! < Excuse the swearing hehe.

These law suits are only to do with pronounciation..... to avoid confusion.... okay so i get a letter from Alitalia ther company name is on the letter i know who im dealing with.... there is zilch problemo!

Im driving to work..... i hear on the radio.... "Fly with EAZY JET for £1" (Pretending EAZY JET is another airline) so i go online to EASY JET and i dont see £1 fares  :( but infact EAZY JET lets say is a new low cost airline.... if that makes sense.

EXAMPLE 2:

A radio station "ABSOLUTE" got sued by the vodka brand "ABSOLUT" "ABSOLUTE" is a very common word and pronounced differently "ABSOLUT" lossed the case on the basis it is pronounced differently  ;D

For SkyExpress I have a letter from real airline staff who gives me permission to use this name and logo for virtual aircompany.

If admin wants this letter, I can share it.

I am not a lawyer, but you can have a hundred letters from Santa Claus, you are not the one who is going to be sued if someone is. Sami is the owner of this game, which is probably not exactly a money-maker for him but a commercial game anyway since we are paying to play. Therefore a real-life airline could say that if its name and logo appear in the game, Sami is actually making money by using their intellectual property in an aviation-related business. The airline would probably demand that their name and logo be removed, but at least in theory they could also sue for damages.

On a related note, why is it so important to use real airline games in the game that you would actually obtain permission? What's wrong with a little originality?
