im having a little problem...it may be a bug...i dont know...i have a gd friend playing the game as well, and just a while ago we discussed the comonality issue.

it doesnt really make sense...i will paste the details, even though we use diferent aircrafts the figures should be roughly the same. ill even give you a comparison with saab 2000.

did you take a look at the number of engines (similar and different) for a certain variants. plus, MTOW takes a small toll (Correct me if not) on costs.

but that will be shown in the engines area....besides it doesnt explain the huge difference between the q400 and the 767's... :-\

If I understand right there is three types of fleet in your and two type in his, right? As far as I know the third fleet doubles the costs for all fleets. But even though the numbers seems to be a bit off I guess.

There may be a huge difference for example in the flight utilizations etc. but maybe somebody else would be able to clarify this further.

well as far as im aware, your expenses increase as you use more types of ac, need to pay extra trainning and bla bla...that figure will obviously be different if you add up the total numbers in the end once you put all of the types together. that i completely understand. what i can understand is why as given on hte example shown do i pay more for 16 q400 than the other player pays for 23 767...1 is prop, the other jet...different types of trainning, cheaper, maintenance, cheaper and any sort of administrative costs should be cheaper too. you cant compare one plane with the other in any characteristics, therefore it isnt understandable the reason why maintaining the q400 is dearer than the 767's!

please correct me if im wrong!

You operate 7(!) different types of aircraft. Your friend operates 3. The game is designed to encourage fleet commonality, that why your costs are very high.

In direct comparison, the difference between e.g. 767 and DHC-8-400Q with regard to training is that you need more personnel on the prop because you fly more legs and hence have to switch crews more often. I noted this the first time when I flew regional strategies. Further, the as Powi just mentioned, the general administration costs for any plane go up, the more different planes you have, because the administration of numerous different fleets is more expensive and time consuming then the same number of a/c of one fleet. Hence the per fleet type costs increase over-proportionally to the number of a/c in the fleet. But in order to get exact numbers, Sami would need to explain how this is calculated in detail.

Yup, my point exactly (see up).

You have to look at the commonality costs as a total cost ... So sum up all the figures and compare them only after that between airlines.

The system isn't very smart yet on that (in a way that you could go into very much details like you've done).

To put it simply, as Yb noted early on, as you add new fleet types the cost to manage each fleet goes up.

So if you dropped those few Saab 2000s that you've got, not only would you not be paying for their costs, your costs would go down on each of your other fleet types as well.  And in a fairly large way.

That's why you and your friend could have the exact same number of the exact same type of plane, but you would be paying much more to manage it because you have so many more fleet types.

the saabs are going soon, only got them to cover the holes...i will then take a print screen and publish them here again to see if there is a diference!

i had read it before and as mentioned by other players, it didnt made sense to me either at the time...now it made it even worse.
has i had mentioned before the saab fleet was going to go and it did. the problem is that the only figure that decreased was the amount i pay for my a330/340 fleet, that reduced about 1mll only and the amount i used to pay for the saabs of course.

out of curiosity, i will make a few calcs and maybe i will get rid of my f70 fleet as well. dont really think i am making enough profit to pay for the routes even though they have a 80+ LF. maybe i will get rid of this type too. there will be print screens to prove whatever the result is.

just went through my profits on the fokker 70 fleet. im making around 13 mll a month. considering the 5.8mll i pay every month on comonality, leaves me with 7.2mll income a month.

i have decided to sacrifce that income so we can continue this discussion. i will get this sorted tommorrow, so we let the change of getting rid of the saabs settle, just in case we can only see them next game month.... :-\

Try get rid of the A300's as well. Getting rid of the A310's would be good too, but you have quite a few so lots of effort!

IMO even the biggest airlines don't need more than 4 fleet types.
E.g.
X/Large 747/A380
Large 777/ A330
Medium 737/A318-A321
Small Q400/ERJ/Etc

Although I dont often stick to this because I like so many types  :)

well...and what about a substitute for the types you are suggesting me?? im not going go for boeing...otherwise prices will rise again...
