What about being able to buy shares in other airlines if you have the money & taking them over....? Cherry pick the best routes and sell the rest off...?

blair21088

would you want your airline that you spent weeks or months building to get bought out from under you?

Exactly. It would get to a stage where any big airline could just poach a smaller one. And given the fact we pay for this that would be incredibly unfair.

It would be fine if you couldnt issue more than 49.9% of your airline

Or if you can, you just shouldn't. :) I think it's a great idea to invest in other airlines you think will do well to earn some money... add a whole other dimension. And as long as you maintain 50% of your airline, you would always have control. If you WANT to risk selling off more than that, I see no problem. The odds of one person snapping up all the stock would seem fairly low, but... still a risk.

Have you not seen the Billion/Trillion dollar value airlines with up to and over 1000 aircraft before? Shares are good in some games but in one such as this, the imbalance in airlines with money and those without would just remove the fun from the game.

Thats just wrong. :P Plus I'm sure thats the least of what sami is trying to do for the games.

Plus I would venture 75% of the players are not ready to deal with this. We're just learning to have 2 hubs. Lets get thru that first.

I think you should be able to sell 30% at a maximum.

I'd like that feature - though its more a feature request than general talk, isn't it?

I think smaller airlines could profit from that, because they would get money from selling their shares that they could invest in new a/c and such, giving them the ability to grow faster.

i agree with this option, but i thing what you guys are mentioning is wrong, let me explain, and please if some1 in the stockmarket is out there, correct me if wrong!

a company only has shares for sale if their management has decided to place them in the market. by doing this they would receive a certain amount of $ according to the sale, it would be up to them to chose whatever % theyd like to place in the share market. say youd need a new plane and couldnt afford it, hace 1% of shares issued, and that 1% would mean a value of 2 mll, that $ received would then be used to for you to buy the plane. keeping in mind somebody would have to buy that 1% of shares you had issued to the market.

on the other hand from who is buying...you would only be able to take over a company once youd have over 50% of the company in shares. youd have the option to sell the shares if youd thing that the price according to the market was good for a sale. To finish you would get a $ of the companies income, according to the % of shares you owned.

it is a good idea, but it may take a bit to get implemented, if ever. besides it would take a bit of modeling for you to be able to add this feature to the game...

one more thing...we are in the wrong area to request features...

All true except for this, I think: Shareholders don't get their "share" of the profits, but the managment decides how much each share will get. Even if the company makes big profits, this doesn't need to be anything, or the company could pay this even though its making losses to hold their share's prices high.
