With just 17 days till the end, I wonder what's next.

New Zealand challenge. 500 players... You ready?

d2031k

  nice.

I'm not sure how many new games there will be.

ROTMA finishes in 1 month 27 days
MT#1 finishes in 1 month 25 days
DOTM finishes in 1 month 23 days
BW#5 finishes in 1 month
ED finishes in 5 days

I don't think it's a coincidence the top 3 finish within 4 days of each other  ;)

We've never really had a new game under 3 months, so maybe 1 more full game perhaps in around a month or so when the others are winding up?  Sami stated in the January development report that 'With the time estimate of v.1.2 completion in 2-4 months from present point there will be at least one additional game world launched before the next version is introduced.'

We've had the test and the JA since this.

This is all pure speculation of course!  ;D

I like the New Zealand suggestion..But with more airports than alot of places...try Norway..Cause I would like to have it illustrated in true fashion that a certain irish low budget carrier is not the answer to its lack of domestic carriers..

In other news..

A 70 something businessman has started a new airline to fight the lack of flights, cant find an article in English though.

But a true domestic fight with loads of players would be interesting..

Sami

Yes, I am trying to speed up the v.1.2 to reach before the main games end in 1,5 months.

For "replacement" to EC game, there are no plans since there are other worlds available at the moment still. Unless you can be creative and come up with a "small & quick" world.

What about a regional challenge somewhere, but limiting the airports to sizes 1, 2 and 3 only and no large or very large aircraft?  That way people could practice with small aircraft and it would be hard for huge airlines to develop.  You could maybe do it just for 4 years like the Early Days?

I guess it would have to be in the modern era for demand purposes.

Surely..wouldn't large airlines just evolve no matter what? Profitable routes and all that. Maybe not dominating entirely...but you know..like having twice the fleet size of the nearest competitor like I have seen in  beginers and now in dawb of the milenium? Personally, I have no issues with them.

d2031k

I don't have issues with them either, I am one

I guess they probably would develop in a different way - just a thought anyway :)

That sounds like 490 players who will be p***ed they wasted 5 credits.  :)

I thought the South American Challenge w/ only Russian metal had a good ring to it myself.

Sami, lets go with 80s game, only Russia w/ Russian metal for ... 7 years?

Since it's going to be summer in 4 months, and the current games finish in 1.75 months, I would suggest short 2.25 month worlds to get us to summer.
Then, I would suggest another game over the summer holidays and when that finishes (september) come back with the multiple usual long games of the new version.

This would give time to sami to do all the finishing touches to the new version. Also, I would like the new version to start in september as I don't think many of us will be active in summer.

Yeah, but 10 player will be jubilantly proud of themselves... It's a tradeoff  ;D

Is there going to be a beta for this update?

Well, why not have it a second round? TBH I like a game with competition.

Or a Asia game.
Perhaps a domestic battle in Japan? EDIT: no Haneda basing allowed to make it hard.

d2031k

Maybe Sami could set up a vote to see what people prefer?

NorgeFly

I'd like another Euro Challenge game

type45

South American Challenge w/ only Russian metal will result in a lot of tech. stop ;)

in modern world only 737NGs and A321 with max MTOW can fit the demand and range at the same time......

Maarten Otto

Perhaps a EuroChallenge with a limited amount of planes allowed per player (like 75) to give ALL a chance. In the current game there are just over 60 survivors where the game untill recently had 130+ players onboard.

GAME: Euro Challenge 2
- Start money: $3.800.000
- Players (max): 180
- Start fee: 7 credits (smaller server means more expanses for Sami... and that has to be compensated somehow)
- week fee: 1 credit
- Game time: 1998 - 2005

Limitations:
- No big planes (like current game limitation)
- Max 75 Aircraft limit per airline
- No basing allowed at top 25 airports (to give everyone a good chance, to increase competition, to make sure the big boys must come up with another strategy and to make it more fun)

jchaves

and what about an Iron Curtain scenario, just european socialist countries, soviet union, north korea and china. Aircrafts from each country manufacturers.

Maarten Otto

Sami stated that he would only think about a new scenario if it would be easy to create. Making a cumminist scenario would take a long time I guess, and i seriousley doubt it could have up to 200 players.
