Changing New Aircraft Order to New Model

Hello...

I know it is possible to change the model of the aircraft before 10 months before delivery, but is it possible to change it to a model that wasn't available at the time of your order?

For example, say I placed an order for 10 777-200's.  6 months later, the 777-300 was announced.  Could I change my 10 200's to 10 300's?

Nope.

The ability to do that was specifically removed.  So that you can't order something that has a multiple-year queue, then change your order when the newer version is announced years later.

Yes, sometimes that does actually happen in real life.  But it could be really abused in our situation because we know (roughly, as dates change +- a year) what new planes will be announced between now and when our planes are due to arrive.
