The new payment

i think the new payment mode has become quite expensive for what the game is.... i think they need to change it back to normal 10 credits n shorter game days. :-\

Sami

Hi, please read the older news and also Manual for more information why the system was changed. There will be no changes to it, apart from occasional campaigns or promo offers. (the pay as you play concept will stay)

samomuransky

Sami, I would like to suggest one thing.. when we are paying for every week, what about adding unlimited bankruptcy? I mean that I can restart airline as many times as I want and need?

Jona L.

have you ever seen a bank giving you credit 5,6,7 times, always as you bankrupt?! I think 4 times is the absolute maximum, for not making it unreal!

Sami

hmmm. At the moment I don't see why it should be increased as the current 4x is already quite a large number. And I think most players do not bc. that often.

Why would it matter if you keep on paying for what you play?

Oh, just as an aside (not that it matters to anyone), but I don't think I'll be able to afford this game anymore.  I only paid ~$6 for my current game (JA3), and I still have a lot of time left.  Can't see why I would want to pay way more than that for same amount of time.   :(

Sigma

You can't afford an increase of a measly $1/month?

Riger

Considering all the features that get added regularly, I'll happily continue paying the new fees.  Keep up the good work Sami !!

Correction: (5 credits to start = $8) + ((1 credit per week = $1.60) * (12 weeks [3 month game])) = $27 versus the $10 I paid before for a game.

The math in the previous message is hugely incorrect.

* 5 credits does not cost $8.... But rather $4.2 if you buy a pack of 5Cr, or $3.7 if you buy a pack of 10Cr, or for example only $3.3 if 50Cr pack is bought. (conversion from EUR to USD with today's approximate rate)

* First play week is included in the joining cost. So you need 16Cr to play a 3 month game, and that is $12.5 if you buy only those 16Cr and not some larger discount pack!  (==> $0.13 / day, or 90 days with $12.5...)    Or if you bought a 50Cr pack the cost would have been $10.6 for the 3 month play time, or $0.11 / day.

Previously all game worlds have had a single fee to join the game world. However our members have requested longer game worlds and also pointed out that for example joining a game world at it's halfway mark costs the same as joining it at the very start of the world although the actual play time with the same cost is shorter in this case.

....

You may notice that for longer games the play cost is higher than before, where 10 Credits was usually the standard game cost. The "10 Credits for each game" cost structure was originally planned for 1-2 month long game worlds, and lately (upon user requests) the game worlds have been longer, even up to 4 months. So the original game cost target of approx. 0.1 eur/usd was not met with the extended game length and the original cost and a change was needed.

With the new payment structure the cost to play in a single AirwaySim game world over a period of two months is still 0.1 eur / usd per day, or less, depending on which Credit package you have bought, which discounts you have received and how long you play (the longer you play, the cheaper it becomes per day). Or in other words, the play cost is approximately 3 eur / usd per month. Which we believe is a very cheap price for a product of this quality.

Riger

With all due respect...  I challenge anyone with aviation interest to find better entertainment at this price!!!

Best Regards

Richard

Or if you bought a 50Cr pack the cost would have been $10.6 for the 3 month play time, or $0.11 / day.

Of course, your calculations assume the customer has the ability to make such lump sum payments to obtain such discounted rates.  When one considers some customers need to explain to their spouses why they need to make an outlay of $15 (20 Cr) - $35 (50 Cr) for some online browser business sim, the assumption becomes even more suspect!  ;D

(It was easy to justify to my wife spending $5, but $20 is quite difficult!)

Ha ha, now you are talking.  My wife now knows that it takes 7 hours for aircraft to arrive and she tellsme when not to buy/lease aircraft because we don't have the time to hang around while I find routes for the aircraft ....   ;D

The new games are ~6-months long and cost ~30 credits, or $24 -- that's about $4/month.

JA3 was 3.5-months log and cost $10 -- or about $3/month.

Hence, as I said, an increase of just $1/month.

And, no you don't have to buy in bulk quantities.  Frankly the discount you get for that is miniscule (a mere 2-5% -- or a mere couple pennies per week of play).  Considering what Sami would save on PayPal transaction fees for much larger transactions (fees on sub-$10 stuff can get to be a large %), I would expect larger discounts for ordering in larger quantities.  So buy them 10 at a time -- and it'll only cost you a mere $7.80 every 2.5 months.

JJP

Thank you, Sigma.  I really do appreciate your help, since I sincerely would like to keep playing.  I did not look into the new cost scheme deeply because it seemed undoable to me.  With what you've said, it may be possible to squeak it past my wife.  Thanks.

If you don't like to play, or cannot afford € / $0.07-0.15 for each day you play (or $3-5 / month) then we have nothing to offer unfortunately. This is not a charity and the prices are not decided by public voting.

And please read more here: https://www.airwaysim.com/game/Manual/Credits/   and here:  https://www.airwaysim.com/forum/index.php/topic,13754.0.html

Topic is now closed as it does not have anything more to offer.

It still does not cost $20 if it was previously $5 to you. Please read what I and Sigma wrote. (= easy to sneak that pass the wife ;D )
