Non-existent 'Used aircraft market' ???

We are now in 2005 and I have just restarted my airline for many reasons. My main concern is the 'Used Aircraft Market'... Why are there so few reasonably modern a/c with at least noise chapter 3 to lease or buy??? This seems ridiculous to me since it makes starting a new airline almost impossible. This is how it looks 4th April 2005, without listing old 1950's vintage or russian junk a/c:

-Airbus A318/319/320 = 1 (new)
-ATR42 = 26
-B737-300/400/500 = 0
-B737NG/Max = 0
-CRJ-200   =6
-Bae-146 = 9
-Avro-RJ-- =9
-Dash-8-Q4 = 0
-ERJ-170-195= 0
-ERJ-135/140/145 = 15
-MD80/90 = 0
-Saab-2000= 2

How can anyone start-up a new airline with these choices available??
Is the only possibility to order a batch of new a/c and wait for 2 yrs? How fun is this simulation then?

This is not how this Sim worked a few years ago and I think it has degraded a lot.
I will wait a few days and see what happens on the market and then decide to leave for good or not.

I just looked and in the MT game there are currently 761 different aircraft available in the used aircraft market. The number seems quite plenty to me?

And as noted in the launch news of every game world (https://www.airwaysim.com/forum/index.php/topic,94747.msg560978.html#new) it is fully expected that the most popular models will sell out quickly in the early phase of the game:

QuoteThere is a good supply of used aircraft available to begin with, but the used aircraft market will soon become limited and the popular aircraft types are sold/leased very quickly. Take care when picking the aircraft you plan to use and plan to order aircraft directly from the manufacturers.

For a new airline I also recommend the Easy Start mode, since it picks the planes from the broker storage and not from the public market, increasing the chance to get some "popular" aircraft types (but there one must take care too since it's then difficult to find such types to expand the airline!).

It's a bit like going to biggest and most popular bar in town, then saying there's nowhere to sit.

I've not followed the herd (757,737,A320), got a lot off the used market as I could see there were plenty there, checked not many others used them, and got into the new market as quick as possible. This has allowed me a steady stream of aircraft. The slot costs also severely limit how quick you can put routes on planes, more planes would need a lot more slot money which I don't think many airlines could afford.

Well, I am not looking for "numbers" of used a/c.. I am looking for suitable a/c for the time.
As this game works now, it seems like it's all about getting in first and grab it all! The "top dog" in here has now 114 a/c in use and 156 a/c on order!!! No wonder there is not many a/c left on the market. I wonder how this 'anomaly' is possible here since we all started with the same money and horrendous slot fees ??

Or even worse.. When you finally reach the bartender, you find that all good bottles are taken or 'reserved' and you are advised to go out in the rain to the old hot-dog stand  :,(
