Retraining Pilots

Hello,

I'm eliminating my long haul aircraft (B720s) from my fleet and for now I'm not going to replace it with anything else. Just not worth it. This means that I'm going to have about 230 pilots that I have no work for. I'm considering retraining them to fly my medium haul fleet. I don't need anywhere near 230 pilots but it's better than paying 230 pilots for nothing.

My question is will this "demotion" affect their morale? I've been told that firing them is not a good idea because of the effect it will have on my company image.

Retraining does not effect anything except for your cash balance to the tune of the cost of the retraining.

You can also sack pilots from an unused airplane class without a CI hit (i.e. if you use no XL planes you can just sack all XL pilots). Don't forget to turn auto hire back on after if you use it

Really??? I was told in no uncertain terms that I should definitely not fire any pilots at all. But this would be perfect. I won't have any XL planes so firing all my XL pilots would be perfect but I was too afraid to do so.

Minor caveat, the XL pilot class of staff will have a -100 morale, so be careful if you plan to use XL planes some time in the future

Hi,
I would like a clarification before I make any supid mistake. I tried to find a proper thread and this was the closest to my question that I could find.
Due to modernizing my fleet, my long-haulf aircrafts need 2 pilot instead of 3. Therefore, I have Very Large aircraft pilots up to level 150%. I was planning to re-train the extra pilots to Small Aircraft Pilots, since it is the cheapest salary group for pilots. I won't be using any small aircraft now or in the future. Is it then safe to fire all my small aircraft pilots without having effect on company image or other staff group morale?

No, firing staff from any group will have negative effects, such as reduction of Company Image.

To be fair i did not check the date of your answer though, not like i expected anyone to drag this old forum post up, will have to double check anything that has the "new" tag on them going forward
