Hi @sami,
In GW1 beginners, there is an airline called Peachpear, it seems to be a cargo airline. The thing I don't understand is the player seems to have well over 10% of the airports cargo capacity in plenty of airports, with just one route from Hong Kong. How does this make sense, that a player will have a large amount of a foreign major airports cargo traffic with only one flight per day. When you have local airlines flying 100s of flights a day?

Did not quite catch on what do you mean by "one route from Hong Kong"? This airline is based at HKG and he has 99 aircraft in use, of which 53 are pure cargo a/c and others carrry pax (& belly cargo).

Tha_Ape

If he flies big cargo planes (A330-200F, 777F, 767F, 747-400F, etc.) and that nobody flies cargo at the destination airport (or only belly cargo), this is not surprising. He'll take 60.000 Kg at once when the others take 2.000 or 3.000 Kg here and there.

@Sami: probably means that with one single route from HKG he manages to get 10% of cargo in, say, CDG or DXB or else. Because in those airports no one flies pure cargo.

As in 1 route a day to external airports, so for example one route a day to Manchester or gatwick, and yet he or she has over 10pc of cargo capacity

Aa.. Well, exactly like Tha_Ape guessed above.

So it is genuinely possible to run a cargo airline, cool, ill try that at some point

Absolutely, however you have to choose your HQ (and country) quite carefully.
Because cargo is very sensitive to route image and never starts at potential levels, starting as pure cargo airline is quite harder and you need high demand in order to really be undersupplying.
Or, be very cautious and patient, and it will be slower.

Best places are Japan, the US, Germany and the UK. Should still be possible in all Western Europe, but not as big. And China, HKG, SIN, Taiwan, etc., but not before the 80s or even late 90s (for China and SIN), as this works with CBD, based on GDP per capita, thus following more or less real economic conditions.
