Poaching players from other alliances

I have received a private message from one of the players in my alliance that they have received an invite from the biggest alliance in AWS and he is accepting it. I find this very under hand and I call it back stabbing. I would never even dream of poaching players from another alliance.
Yes this is a game, but we should not poach one another's alliance members. especially ones that the biggest alliance would not have even looked at in the first place, but I believe in giving people a chance to prove themselves and that is what I do with all my alliance members, I do not expect anyone to poach them because they are doing so well now.

Isn't the idea to build the best alliance and want to be on the best alliance?

Solemus

Yeah but they are already the best and I am trying to build my alliance.

I don't see anything wrong in reaching out and giving players already in an alliance the opportunity to join another alliance - if you have a strong and healthy alliance there shouldn't be any need to worry for your members to leave...

yes Loyalty is often far fetched in AWS but I'm afraid this is the reality of the game and the tactic of one or 2 alliances out there.

As a managing member of an established alliance, we don't approach players from other alliances and I personally agree it's a bit of an immoral approach to build an alliance.
However if players from other alliances approach us and are willing to switch, then I would see that as a different matter as they are obviously not happy with their current alliance.

In the long run, you will be better off without players who show no loyalty and build your own group of reliable/trustworthy players..

Infinity

We do not 'poach' actively. But we are in contact with some players from other alliances, of course; and if in that contact the wish to switch evolves, we sure won't dismiss that wish.

I am not in GW#2 and hence have no idea if you are even referring to us, but I nontheless think it's appropriate to explain.

I can empathise with your frustrations, however the fact is that all players will be free to choose where their loyalties lie. If you want to attract the biggest and best then you have to be the biggest and best, I would echo what others have said and start with a small and talented group and build it up from there. Expect the peripheral players to come and go, just make sure there are some to contribute to score at least.

I thank you all for your comments, I would just like to say again I wouldn't even try to take other alliances members, but as I was a little upset at the fact that a big alliance would take a small alliance member I feel that big alliance really does need a swift kick where it hurts as they are so out of order at what they done. But saying that I guess that all your comments are correct and I should really take this as a lesson in not giving a member advice on how to grow his airline from nothing to a very prosperous airline.
So hey ho I will get another player to join  8) 8)

Please don't do that, we need people like that in the game. Many people I have mentored, helped or just chatted with have grown to be bigger and better than me, and often joined other alliances along with their success. I take it as a personal testimony, the people recruiting at these alliances know who trained them up. Don't burn the bridges because maybe these players will be willing to join your alliance in a game where the big alliance isn't playing or is full. Also you never know how knowing these people could be useful in the future, especially combined with a good reputation. Maybe you will be getting the invites from other alliances.

As an alliance manager of Cloud 9 Alliance, I do not see a problem with players deciding to change alliances be it requested by another alliance or the player pursuing another alliance themselves.
Often a player can learn a lot more about the game by association with as many players as they can, and IMO better players equates to a better game for us all.

Yeah you're obviously right Alex I was just angry that such a large alliance could take a player from a small alliance like mine.

Same opinion. I just don't like it when the poached players made up excuses to leave the Alliance then later join another Alliance

Solemus

Hey Mr HP how you doing? Yeah maybe I done a good thing to help someone. My original posts were done out of anger, maybe annoyance, but this was a learning curve for me as well. I've played this game for about 5 years on and off, but this is the first time I made an alliance, it is definitely hard work but a lot of satisfaction in a hard game. I have run alliances in other games but this is the hardest and I apologize to all concerned if I came on too strong. I suffer with PTSD and sometimes it gets the better of me.
