Aircraft fleet type not available when selecting route.

I'm sure I have seen something on this in the forum before, but can't find it.

I am trying to look at a LH route with a tech stop over in MT6. I don't currently own any 787s, however they are available on the market and I want to look at flight time from Auckland to Heathrow with a stopover. However, the 787 is not an otpion when selecting plane type despite runways of all airports (including tech stop) being correct length and distance between airports being under the the 787s capacity. I've tried several different stop overs and have the same problem.

Anyone know why or can shed some light?

If it is not on the list then the plane is not capable of flying the route at all.

There are very few aircraft that will manage that 9000+NM sector, hence the tiny list.

You only selected the Stopover for one of the two legs, thus you need a plane that can fly it nonstop ;D

or: go select the stopover in both directions

Also a little hint:

best stopover for the LHR-AKL route is Petropavlovsk in Russia (UHPP).

It is the airport that lies as exactly as possible in the middle, only adding 1NM to a route of over 9900NM, and since it is an old Soviet Military air-base it has a decent runway of 3400m UHPP

Actually I have seen the same issue in JA4 when the 707 just came out for ordering. I wanted to know how much of an impact the short runway at LGA would make, but you couldn't select the 707 in the drop down box.

That is because the runway is so short there, a 707 would only make about 650NM, maybe 700... wait for the 320B Adv., that will have more range with less rwy.-requirement, thus give you a higher possible range out of LGA.

I just had to see the shocking thing.... Sami f*cked up that airport as well :-\ Only up to size class Large, so no chance for 787 & Co.

For a tech stop, only runway length matters as of a few months back. If it has a sufficient runway, it can land there for a tech stop regardless of size class restrictions!

Hmm... didn't get that update :-\
Thanks a lot for the info :)

Sorry, Sami I take it back, you didn't screw up the airport then ;)
