C/D Check vs Route Image

I just had my first plane hit its C Check date and it prompted a question...

Does RI decline if the only plane running the route is in C/D Check? As my fleet grows, is there value in having "floater" planes that I schedule to keep the route running while a plane is in its C/D Check?

If losing route image in a concern due to these maintenance checks, how do those of you with experience handle the situation?

The first question: I'm pretty sure it won't crush your RI, as the aircraft is in maintenance it's like you didn't even print tickets for that period and pax don't get fooled (again). But as I've never hit a C check while having only one plane, I don't know.

The second question: The "spare" aircraft has been mentioned a lot in this fourm. At first it appears to be a very good idea to keep getting income while having a C check. You may lease a second aircraft to replace the first one that is going to a C check and then schedule the first one and then having two aircraft operating.
This may be good while having very few aircrafts, but once you grow reasonably, you can hit a called "C check season" and you won't have the sufficient surrogate airplanes to cover them, so IMO is useless when having more than 20 or something.

Thank you for your reply. I have 13 aircraft right now, this is just the first C Check I have had and it made me wonder about the RI.

I was just wondering how hard my RI would get hit, if it would eventually be financially smart to have a spare plane that I ran on routes which had their normally scheduled planes in C/D Check when they were coming along frequently because of the sheer number of craft. An alternative solution being to try bringing in new planes from the new/used market around the times a plane was going into C/D Check to take over the route and then take the plane in C/D Check run a new route for it that would have been created for the other plane anyways (essentially negating RI loss, if it happens, while naturally expanding my operations).

All of it just depends on how much RI gets effected and what that means in terms of profit loss.

There is absolutely zero impact to RI/CI as a result of maintenance checks.

And good luck using spare aircraft.  Financially a good idea sure, practical it is not.

I was not looking forward to the possibility of having to spend the time and effort constantly moving schedules around to keep RI up. If it won't hurt my wallet, other than the fact that the route isn't generating money while a plane is in C/D Check, then I am happy. Thanks Sigma.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but this is relevant to my situation...when an aircraft is in c-or d-check status, does it vacate its related schedule so that another a/c can be scheduled on the route?

Curse

It's possible to reschedule it to another aircraft of the same type via this button in schedule management:

If you want to user another fleet group, you have to reschedule all flights manually by clicking them and edit fleet group, maybe times etc. Too much work if you want a qualified answer on this.

Yea that looks quite the PITA...thanks for the info, sir!
