How many in beginner's world really are beginners ?

I started playing AirwaySim about 2 days ago and I have noticed there are a few players in beginner's world that seem to know exactly what to do and waste no time doing it.
I've gone bankrupt once and it looks like I also picked a bad hub because the competition is fierce from a couple players that are very good.

I like a challenge but I'm also looking at moving my hub just so I can get a chance to compete later when I become better at this game.

Playing this game for just a couple weeks gives you a big advantage when starting another game in beginners world and competing against players who never played before.........there is so much to learn and so many ways to make mistakes.

That's ok cause I think this game is amazing and we'll see what happens when I figure it all out.

Who else has run into the same challenges and maybe finds it a little frustrating that there seem to be some very experienced "beginners" in beginner's world.

If you havet played the demo then everything is going to seem deiffeicult. Hub choice is the corner stone of this game. If you know real world airlines well and know there hubs and fouces city you can do good in the game because you know where the passengers are. For example I know in the new beginners world there are 3 people out of atl which is ok but you better be ready to fight for slots. You need to know good alternetives too. Insted of flying out of ORD and there are 2 Hubing look into MDW. Other then that I'll tell you I bankrupted 2 times in the demo and after the second time I had a good understanding of the game. Read threw the forums you can always pick up on stuff.

I started playing the demo but there was just too much of the game missing with the demo.

So why play the demo when you can play the real game in beginners world.

Picking the right hub is just one tiny part of the game strategy........a true beginner starting in the same hub as an experienced player who already has a head start, does'nt stand a chance.
And a new player who just started playing won't know who's experienced and who is not.

But the forums are a good place to get information.........and it's helped.

I know exactly what you are saying about "beginners".  There is one current CEO (doing very well currently) who registered in Jan 2009 if I remember his stats correctly.  Certainly, they may have just now got into the game though...

But, I am still enjoying the game (did my intro week few weeks back and waited for the beginner's world nine to start).
I used MSP as a hub then and did OK, turning a profit by the end.  I learned to focus on high traffic routes with at least 100 seat planes.  I chose planes based on low fuel use/seat, and always leased used to start.  I ran many flights to Chicago, Detroit, Milwuakee (instead of single routes to many cities) to save on marketing a whole bunch of routes.  In this current game I am trying to keep my fleet in common (mostly boeing with pratt and whitney engines) to cut that cost.  The one Dash 300 I have I use just for quick hops out of my base.  I am running to the highest demand airports, and have added some longer flights with a B757.

Good Luck and grow slow!

As an experienced player, I'd like to say:

T8KEOFF should NOT be in this game.  He has been in so many games, and beat so many people, that I don't understand how he made it into the beginners world.  Join the World United (is that what it is called?) Alliance, as opposed to OneSKY, because you will need to team up to b'rupt him.  Maybe somebody should mention this to sami . . .

Hi all

I am not what you might call a true beginner. I've played the demo trial, then stopped. Then registered in the previous BW for some time (not full game) and I understand that many people here do not appreciate having experienced people in this game.

However, I've asked Sami if I was authorized to join since I did not really get a chance to be successful in the previous BW (stuck in a corner airport, with low business). I've joined this one in a hub to understand how hard it might be. He said that the check was automatic, and I could stay if the system entitled me to.

As an example, I've gone bankrupt already twice in this BW. Now things seem to settle a bit. But I would not like to have truly experienced players in this world either. I'm here to help younger players to be successful in this BW, and I hope I'll be able to do so. If I can help sbdy to use a route by removing older players from that route and then removing my planes, I'll do so.

Hi,

Although it is not really affecting me and my airline, I have been thinking about this question as well. Just one demo game does give you some experience and reading the forums as well. However, I was a bit surprised as well to see a player (doing very well) in the beginners world with a registration date about a year ago. And my guess is that this is not the only one.

Furthermore, I think the demo game does not actually show you what to do in the beginners world. I had a hard time keeping my head above the water in the demo game as the single player on one hub. Of course I made the classic beginners mistakes as well. However, contrary to the demo game, the beginners world seems to be very very forgiving up until now.

Well I am certainly a beginner. And I am finding it very slow. trying to keep money in or around the evens mark. I must admit I see some with huge losses and new aircraft and wonder HOW??? All I can afford is old 2nd hand jets. I have just leased my 4th aircraft, which made me into negative figures but hopefully will earn me more money so I can get a steady earnings stream incoming.

This is true he is a well experienced player and has played plenty other worlds, even if you look at his registration date it shouldn´t be possible for him to join....

see what pops up if I try to join:

This game world is reserved for newcomers at AirwaySim (hence the name Beginner World).

You can only join this game world if you have played in the Free Trial (demo) game world, or you have played in previous Beginner Worlds only for a limited time (less than 5 weeks), or you have last played AirwaySim over 5 months ago.

Please join another game world instead as this world is reserved only for new players.

I did have experience from another airline sim game........Cyber Airlines.
Anybody else that came here from there?
Cyber is far easier and I think more boring than Airway Sim, it is nothing like this sim were playing now.
So it was a steep learning curve coming here.
But now I think I have this figured out cause this time......the third time in 4 days.....lol.
Is the charm.
Thank god Sami gave us 3 kicks at the can.......lol.

In a few more days I just might be ready to take on those that like no challenge here in beginners world.......... that would rather be a big fish in a little pond.

By the way Sami.........this game is amazing in it's detail.
That's probably what I did'nt realise especially coming from Cyber Airlines which is very unrealistic.
Once I started doing things that would make sense in the real world of air travel then it all came together.
