Announcements - History and the Future / Alytus - Striving for France's...
Last post by TheTransitBandit - June 10, 2026, 05:44:35 AMAlytus, France's preferred way to travel, is working towards a major fleet refresh to keep your flying experience modern, quiet, and comfortable.
Thanks to recent acquisitions, all short-haul European routes formerly operated by Curtiss-Wright and Martin piston aircraft are now operated by state-of-the-art Fokker turboprop aircraft, featuring faster speeds, quieter cabins, and a more spacious seating layout.
Smaller flights are being refreshed as well, with a new order of deHavilland Dove and Heron 2 aircraft to replace older airframes for a more pleasant flight.
Finally, Alytus' famous worldwide long-haul network is looking to modernize as well. While the Lockheed Constellation family continues to provide reliable service, Alytus has been in talks with Douglas to develop a longer-range variant of the DC-8 jetliner, which would be the airline's first jet-powered aircraft. A longer-range variant would allow Alytus to replace the entire Constellation fleet, including the long-range Starliners, with faster and smoother jet aircraft, allowing the airline to expand its long-haul route network and improve the flying experience for current passengers.
Thank you for continuing to choose Alytus as your preferred way to travel, we look forward to welcoming you onboard.

Announcements - Airline Generations / Regrettably, Goosewings is Can...
Last post by Coprolite - June 09, 2026, 04:39:05 PMExcerpt from the CBC's Fifth Estate, August 2032, in an investigative piece on the state of Canada's airline industry:
"I really don't know how this keeps happening. We're an extremely silly airline run by extremely silly geese. Paul Air was a real airline and CrazyJet is a dynamic low-cost competitor. And somehow, we're once again Canada's actual airline," says the ageless Tim Timmerson as he pops a handful of frozen peas into his mouth. "I don't know what to say except, 'Sorry about that, eh?'"

Game talk - The Age of Flight / Re: Airport Slot Fees
Last post by Sami - June 09, 2026, 01:29:46 PMAnd just to clarify, your money did not change here at all. This is just the case when you write off the value of the slots as a taxable loss when you get rid of the slots.

Game talk - The Age of Flight / Re: Airport Slot Fees
Last post by knobbygb - June 09, 2026, 01:16:51 PMThis has been explained many times before (by me at least twice, plus others) so search the forum for more detail. Basically it's to do with how company accounting works. The slots are an company asset when you buy them and you are "charged" for slot fees as a loss to the company when you give up the slots for nothing, not when you buy them.

Japan Aero Transit (JAT) today announced a comprehensive global rebrand, signaling a profound evolution in its corporate identity, fleet architecture, and passenger philosophy. Moving away from traditional, volume-heavy aviation metrics, JAT is repositioning itself as a premium, efficiency-driven carrier dedicated to the discerning traveler.
We are not only a company, "we are travelers". It is a reminder that everyone at JAT—from our flight dispatchers and route engineers to our cabin crew—shares the exact same perspective as the people in our seats. We design schedules, optimize configurations, and select aircraft because we know what makes a journey flawless. We don't just operate flights; we live them."
The new brand identity represents a philosophical shift in how JAT views its role in the sky. Developed as an homage to the frequent flyer, the corporate rebrand strips away the sterile, rigid structures of legacy aviation, replacing them with a minimalist, contemporary aesthetic that focuses entirely on the passenger journey.
While the brand adapts a sleek, international design language, JAT remains fundamentally committed to its geopolitical mission: breaking the Tokyo-centric monopoly. By anchoring its financial and operational strength in the economic powerhouses of the Kinki and Chubu regions, and linking them to the strategic tourism gateways of the Ryukyu islands, JAT continues to provide the premier alternative for Japanese aviation.

Game talk - The Age of Flight / Airport Slot Fees
Last post by Spotter2004 - June 09, 2026, 07:55:56 AMThat's strange.
At the end of my last game week, I suddenly got hit with a bill for over 2.7 million in airport slot fees, even though I didn't open a single new route that week.
I did put an aircraft into storage because it wasn't profitable, and in doing so, I also stopped the flights and airport slot fees.
Could that have something to do with it?
Because even so, that 2.7M in airport slot fees is still way too much.

Announcements - Beginner's World #1 / BezPeru orders more A220's
Last post by neoman - June 08, 2026, 05:23:08 PMBezPeru Announces Additional Airbus A220-300ER Order to Support Continued Network Expansion
Lima, Peru – BezPeru is pleased to announce a significant follow-on order for additional Airbus A220-300ER aircraft, reinforcing the airline's commitment to efficient growth, passenger comfort, and sustainable operations across South America and beyond.
The 21 new aircraft will form the backbone of BezPeru's short- and medium-haul fleet strategy for the coming decade, supporting the airline's expanding network from its hub in Peru to destinations throughout Latin America.
The Airbus A220-300ER was selected for its exceptional operating economics, industry-leading fuel efficiency, and outstanding passenger experience. The aircraft's advanced aerodynamics, modern Pratt & Whitney geared turbofan engines, and lightweight design deliver substantially lower fuel burn and reduced maintenance costs compared with previous-generation aircraft in its category.
"Today's announcement represents another major milestone in BezPeru's growth journey," said the airline's CEO. "The A220-300ER provides the perfect combination of range, efficiency, and passenger comfort required to support our ambitious expansion plans. Its economics allow us to profitably serve both high-demand trunk routes and developing regional markets while maintaining our commitment to competitive fares."
The additional A220-300ER aircraft will enable BezPeru to increase frequencies on key domestic and regional routes while opening new destinations that were previously uneconomical to serve. The type's extended range capability also provides the flexibility to operate longer medium-haul sectors across South America and selected international markets.
Passengers will benefit from the aircraft's spacious cabin, larger windows, reduced noise levels, and modern onboard environment, further enhancing BezPeru's reputation for delivering a high-quality travel experience.
With this latest order, BezPeru reaffirms its confidence in the Airbus A220 family as the cornerstone of its future fleet. As deliveries enter service, the airline expects the A220-300ER to become the dominant aircraft type across its short- and medium-haul operations, providing the efficiency, flexibility, and reliability needed to support sustained growth in an increasingly competitive market.
BezPeru is Peru's rapidly growing airline, connecting passengers across domestic and international destinations with a focus on operational excellence, customer service, and modern fleet efficiency. Through continued investment in next-generation aircraft, BezPeru is building a network designed to meet the evolving travel needs of South America while delivering long-term sustainable growth.
