Game talk - Beginner's Worlds / Advantages of not carrying car...
Last post by WopidyWup - April 01, 2026, 04:20:59 PM
Hello,

I was wondering what the advantages are of selecting the "Transport only passengers (block all cargo capacity)" option when scheduling a route. Even if I have very little cargo to take with me (for example, 5% cargo LF), wouldn't that be extra profits? What am I missing? Do you lose money by having a low cargo LF?

Thanks in advance.

"confirming the order of 42 newly introduced Fokker F100 "Friendship" aircraft"

This press release proves that NorthStar Airways has time traveling capabilities. With Fokker recently announcing the Fokker F.27 and assuming that a new model is released every 10 years, the Fokker F.100 should be announced somewhere in 2684. As JapanCommuter, we want to know what kind of developments will be done in aviation sector, so we can prepare our airline to be future proof.

Preview: Airport Slots purchase via Add Flight in Scheduling

Title says it all. This is almost ready for public testing. 🙂

Works simply:
  • Choose the flight(s) you wish to add. If some of them are missing airport slots, the "Buy Airport Slots" appears at the bottom of the dialog and is pre-checked.
  • Flight is added first, and then the slots are purchased automatically (e.g. if flight is not added due to scheduling conflict or similar, the slots are not bought either).
  • Existing unused slots are first used, and then new ones are bought from the airport slot pool, if available.
  • It will either fail or succeed, and show a simple error message. In case slots are not available (capacity is 0) the details on weekday and time are also shown.
  • If you add many routes at a time, the system will purchase all the slots it can, and a failure of slot purchase on a single route won't stop the scheduling process for other flights.

Montréal — In what is being described as a defining moment in Canadian aviation, NorthStar Airways has announced the largest aircraft order in its history, confirming the order of 42 newly introduced Fokker F100 "Friendship" aircraft.

The order, placed with Dutch manufacturer Fokker, marks a significant step in the airline's ongoing expansion and modernization program.

Company officials confirmed that deliveries of the new aircraft will begin in 1958 and continue through 1960, gradually transforming the airline's short-haul operations.

✈️ Expanding Across North America

The new "Friendship" aircraft are expected to play a central role in strengthening NorthStar's growing network from its home base in Montréal.

With increased capacity and improved efficiency, the airline plans to expand frequencies and introduce enhanced service on key routes including Toronto, Ottawa, New York, Boston, Chicago and Detroit.

A spokesperson for the airline stated that the new fleet would allow NorthStar to "bring more cities within easy reach while maintaining the high standards of comfort and reliability for which the airline has become known."

🌍 A New Era for Regional Air Travel

Aviation experts have noted that the introduction of modern short-haul aircraft such as the Fokker "Friendship" reflects a broader shift in air travel, with airlines placing greater emphasis on frequency, connectivity and passenger convenience.

The aircraft are designed to offer improved comfort for shorter journeys while maintaining operational efficiency, making them particularly well suited for the increasingly competitive North American market.

🛫 Supporting a Growing Global Network

The expansion of NorthStar's short-haul fleet is also expected to support the airline's transatlantic ambitions.

By strengthening feeder routes into Montréal, the carrier aims to further develop its international services to Europe, which have grown steadily in recent years with the introduction of long-range aircraft such as the Douglas DC-6B.

Industry observers believe that this strategy will position NorthStar as a key player in connecting North America with Europe.

🦅 Confidence in the Future

The announcement has been widely welcomed within the aviation industry and is seen as a strong signal of confidence in the continued growth of air travel.

With this landmark order, NorthStar Airways not only secures its position as one of Canada's most ambitious carriers, but also underscores its commitment to shaping the future of commercial aviation.

Announcements - The Age of Flight / GrewAir retires final F27 afte...

GrewAir Bids Farewell to the Fokker F27 After Three Decades of Distinguished Service
OSLO, NORWAY – August 9, 1991 – GrewAir today marks the end of an era in Norwegian aviation as it officially retires the final Fokker F27 "Friendship" from its fleet. The retirement ceremony, held at the airline's headquarters at Oslo Fornebu Airport, commemorates over 30 years of reliable service connecting the communities of Scandinavia.

Since the introduction of the first F27 into the GrewAir fleet in the early 1960s, the "Friendship" has been the backbone of the airline's regional operations. GrewAir holds the unique distinction of having operated nearly every iteration of the aircraft—including the Series 100, 200, 300, 400, and 600—with the sole exception of the stretched 500 series.

"The Fokker F27 didn't just fly routes; it built bridges across our fjords and mountains," said Erik Solberg, Director of Flight Operations at GrewAir. "While we look toward the future, we must acknowledge the incredible reliability of this turboprop, which has served our passengers through three decades of challenging Nordic winters."

A New Standard for the 1990s
The retirement of the F27 paves the way for a fully modernized regional fleet. GrewAir has successfully transitioned its short-haul operations to the ATR 42 and ATR 72 aircraft. This new generation of regional transports represents a significant leap forward in passenger comfort and environmental responsibility:

Quieter Cabins: Powered by the advanced Pratt & Whitney Canada PW120 series engines, the ATR fleet significantly reduces external noise footprints and internal cabin vibration.

Greater Efficiency: The PW120 engines offer superior fuel burn rates, ensuring GrewAir remains competitive and environmentally conscious as we head into the new decade.

Operational Flexibility: The combination of the 42-seat and 72-seat variants allows GrewAir to precisely match capacity with market demand across our growing network.

Legacy of the Friendship
The final F27 aircraft, registration LN-GWA, will perform a ceremonial fly-past of Fornebu before being transitioned to its new role. Over the last 30 years, GrewAir's Fokker fleet has logged over 450,000 flight hours and transported millions of passengers, maintaining an exemplary safety record.

As GrewAir enters this new chapter, the airline remains committed to the same spirit of reliability that the Fokker F27 came to represent.

Best Korea, the leading Korean airline is proud to announce a special new tourism package and short-term visa approved by Dear Leader specifically for tourists who wish to fly on rare and aging aircraft! While in the past our former national airline would simply let aviation tourists fly a few circles around Pyongyang Airport (assuming it wasn't raining...) our newly rebranded fleet has multiple direct flights to Japan and China, as well as a certain nearby offshore Chinese island we aren't allowed to discuss. We continue to monitor aviation scrapyards around the world for rare vintage aircraft we might add to our fleet. Our long haul flights currently feature just one of two Tu-204-300s currently in service in the world. Book our first class experience today!
