Ideas for Game worlds?

Any plans out there for upcoming game worlds?

I'd like to see a game world run from 1946-1975 or something?

It should always keep changing in order to keep the interest level up.

Heck even a future one, running from 2001-2021 or something, adding airplanes at their planned release dates.

The first v.1.1 game will be similar to Air Travel Boom.

After that we'll start a few smaller scenarios that are more challenging, these are probably limited to single continents only (such as US only game, or Europe only).

Finally! I wanna have an Antarctica only game. Anyone down? ;D

Sounds cool Sami, look forward to it.

Personally... I'd like to see continual new games in rotation, even if it's the same scenario over and over.  One short (30 RL day or so) game on 'easy mode' so people don't have to wait too long to get in at the start of something and learn the ropes.  When you're just starting out(*) it's difficult to learn in an established game, and easy to make mistakes and go BK pretty fast.

This is sort of discouraging and 'scary' with the 4 BK limit in a game that you're paying to play, you know?  It's very possible that myself, or anyone really new, could go BK four times within a real-world month or so when starting out as a newb in an established game like JA2 which while the most recently started, is still almost 40% complete.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that it would be nice to have some sort of system where smaller tutorial/learning games are always being restarted, lasting maybe 3-5 in game years, with a new one starting whenever one gets to 25% complete.  Who cares if they're mostly empty?  The purpose would be for people to use them to learn the game mechanics, not to really compete.

(*)I am as new as they come around here.  Just started playing JA2 this week, already BK once (what mistakes did I *not* make? haha), looking 'ok' this go around I think once I recover from a leasing mistake.

I would love to see regular global scenarios and I would play them again and again. My personal favor is something like 1985 to 2005 or the like. I find the rise of efficient airplanes in that period extremely challenging, remembering that e.g. Delta still had the B727 as a major work horse in its fleet in 1996. Right now in the Jet Age 2, there is the problem, that many interesting new planes get delivered a the end of the 1980s, making it unattractive to order with the horizon at 1992. A320 will hence not be able to play out its efficiency to force a significant impact on margins. The same goes for the regional hoppers (BAe 146 etc.) which only become available quite late, as to consider making that investment. The same goes for the rise of the no-frills airlines like Southwest in the 1980s and onwards. The real impact on the main US carriers was only felt at the end of the 1980s.

Therefore, I would like to see scenarios that take those airplane developments into account in order to run at least two historic development cycles with regard to the market. Also, a longer game would not discourage me at all, rather make me craft my strategy much more detailed.

+1  For JA2 the 1992 end date stinks. Wish it was 2002 at least.

DenisG

Can you switch the end date to 2002?

I think that the present scenarios of ATB and Jet Age should be kept, but there should also be some other suprise scenario that always changes

Well, yes, surprise scenarios as well of course. But I thought to have pointed out why the current time phases seem somewhat inappropriate, or to say at least less challening, since the implicative strikes which come into the game due to new airplane efficiencies cannot be implemented far enough. E.g. I came in late into the game (1981) and am fighting to find attractive routes against World Airlines, which dominates the German and several neighbouring markets. As soon as Saab-models, ATR-models, BAe-models become available, I might be able to challenge them on the main routes. But as the game runs out in 1992, those who have taken the spots, will go unchallenged as of 1985, when the fleets have been substituted by 737-300s. That's what I meant. Take into calculation the impact time of new models. Currently, you have big airlines growing up, neglecting the regional and local flights, the backbone. This niche led to the development of BAe146, ATRs, Saabs, DHCs, etc. And this was the market that challenged them, once they had grown up and saturated. Just from my airline passion, I would like to play this out.

Me to. I want some A320, A330s, 777s, I'd like to try out the 747-400s for at least a few years. Same for the ERJs. 1992 cutoff is really killer, that's when the fun begins.

Yep, I support the longer run as we need the challenge of changing the fleets to more efficient planes. For the Jet Age game it doesn't make sense to switch unless you have too much money  ;)
