ATLANTA, GA — Just four months after securing its FAA operational permit and launching commercial service from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), AirTran Airways is proud to announce a major expansion of its flight operations. Demonstrating rapid operational scaling to meet overwhelming passenger demand, the airline has officially placed its fifth McDonnell Douglas MD-83 aircraft into scheduled service.

To support its continued momentum, AirTran Airways also announced today that it has placed firm orders for two additional McDonnell Douglas MD-83 aircraft.

With five aircraft now in its active fleet, AirTran Airways has added 10 more daily flights to its schedule, bringing its total operation to 30 daily round-trip flights. Tickets for these newly added flights are on sale now.
