Carrier commits to 50 ATR 42-500s and 50 ATR 72-500s as part of a major short-haul renewal strategy in the Philippines.

MANILA, Philippines — October 29, 2001

Adobo Airlines today announced a landmark order for 100 ATR turboprop aircraft, including 50 ATR 42-500s and 50 ATR 72-500s (with options for 75 more), in a major step toward modernizing the airline's short-haul and regional operations. The investment will support the carrier's long-term growth strategy and strengthen connectivity across the Philippine archipelago.

The new ATR fleet will gradually replace older short-haul aircraft and provide Adobo Airlines with greater efficiency, improved passenger comfort, and enhanced operational flexibility. The ATR 42-500 will be well suited to thinner domestic sectors, while the larger ATR 72-500 will serve higher-demand regional and inter-island routes.

Adobo Airlines said the order reflects its confidence in continued demand for domestic and regional air travel, as well as its commitment to building a more streamlined and cost-effective fleet. With the Philippines' geography placing air transport at the center of national connectivity, the airline expects the new aircraft to play a vital role in linking communities, supporting tourism, and driving economic development.

"This is a transformative moment for Adobo Airlines," the company said in a statement. "Our order for the ATR 42-500 and ATR 72-500 gives us the right aircraft for the right markets, allowing us to serve more destinations efficiently while improving the travel experience for our passengers."

Deliveries are expected to support a phased fleet-renewal program over the coming years, with Adobo Airlines positioning the ATR family as the backbone of its future short-haul network.
