767 Shocker

WOW... Why am I not surprised.

In Jet Age 1, the 767 is not even announced yet....

I go to new aircraft and there were already 151 ordered.  At 8 per month, that means it is an additional 19 months after they are released before I could get any.

So many people were sitting there waiting.

PLEASE IMPLEMENT A RANDOMIZER SO PEOPLE WHO PLAY OTHER GAMES DON'T HAVE THIS ADVANTAGE!

I know that they can't be blamed, but here is my proof:

all 4 in the same alliance
Rising Sun, blair21088, Also in Air Travel Boom  and Skylinks Private 30
World Connect, Talentz, Also in Air Travel Boom and a Beta game 1.05
Lakeus air, Ile, Also in Beta 1.05  (He got 100 aircraft)
Pantheon, gpan, Not in any other game... how did he know?

Brockster

Well, if they're all in the same alliance it's not hard for them to communicate between each other about those stuff.  I completely agree with you, though.

I think if the dates were randomized within the year it would be so much more fair. I happened to know the dates for some of the planes in previous games and used it to my advantage because I knew if I didn't order those planes early I'd have to wait years before getting them. However, knowing that made the game less fun and less interesting.

swiftus27

it further burns my buns if someone gets a 20% discount on the airplanes too.

I only knew that this plane was in July 2008 from Wiki (I quit other games long ago without writing all of this stuff down)...  I was waiting for the press release..

There is someone IN the game who is the launch customer and put a Company Announcement saying so... on the 13th.  The news message regarding the press release didnt come out until the 14th.

I agree with you Swiftus. The previously discussed idea of new aircraft being launched partially based on demand for previous aircraft is a great idea, given certain time constraints obviously. Obviously, I had an advantage because I knew the exact day the plane would be launched, but buying these planes and leasing them out is the only way I'm going to make money considering that Crimson Sky is squatting on nearly 3000 slots at Haneda.

I didn't have exact date for the MD-81 by the way. i just new that it was in Oct so I decided to check every day at 00:01 to see if it was there.

Sami

There's no need to make such a huge fuss of this too. The production date thingy is already planned for the next version. It cannot be added in the middle of the running game world.

And besides, the current 767 queue will get shorter once the orders start to pile in -> higher production rate -> all orders are now affected due to the new feature implemented today (packed tighter with the higher rate) -> wait is not 19 months most likely.

And of course alliance members can and will trade tips and info's. That's part of the alliance in the first place...

Talentz

How hard is it to google the release date of any aircraft? You have the same information as we do, right?

Also, how is it our fault were in other games and your not?

Yes, setting the launch date to a random date within the launch year will help.. somewhat. Still doesnt solve the problem of we (airlines) having 500m to blow at a moments notice..

I did google it and all I could find was 07/1978

Talentz, I wasnt blaming you.  I was simply making a point.  Also, I did NOT have the same information.  All you had to do was go into any other game and do a airplane comparison and there's the date!

I am just saying that the new players (not myself) get completely disenfranchised and may never play again if they are always at a disadvantage.

And Sami, I will disagree with you.  This is NOT the purpose of alliances.

blair21088

Actually there is a limited window to get the exact date. The comparison screen only contains the month and year, the exact date is only available on the purchase aircraft page.

Sami

You can't see planes from the Compare page until they are launched..

Except you can check the other game and see into the future...

swiftus27

Sami, I know.... this is why I am always referring to people that are in other games...  they can see them.  They have written them down.  Trust me, they know.

This is why I said, for this game only, to simply have all the planes out there in the comparison window with the release dates.  That levels the playing field.

Eh?
http://boeing.com/commercial/767family/background.html

Model     First Order     Rollout     First Flight     Certifi-cation     First Delivery     In Service     First Airline in service     Last Delivery
767-200      07/14/78      08/04/81      09/26/81        07/30/82          08/19/82             09/08/82                 United                    02/24/94

Pretty clear dates right there. Didn't even need to Google it, just went to the Boeing website and it was right there.

Sigma

The fact that it's available on Boeing's website doesn't change the argument one bit.

Also, the date that Boeing lists isn't even the date that the plane is available in the game.  You could buy it here on 7/13, Boeing says the first order was placed on 7/14.

blair21088

no it was 7/14, trust me.

swiftus27

You had a press release on the 13th that you were the launch customer....

blair21088

The press release clocks are off. I bought the planes at 00:001 on the 14th. The same thing happened for the 757s.
