Quick query. What happens when an airport closes and is replaced at the same time with a new one?

Do I need to re-setup all my routes? Or do they transfer? For example if I had routes at Hong Kong when the old airport closed and Lap Chek opened

No, you do not have to re-setup all your routes. The game will automatically transfer the flights from the old airport to the new airport when that happens.

You juest have to be careful - a very small number of airports are not replaced, as Aurel Vlaicu, or Blackpool (I can't thing about any other). All others, AFAIK, have a proper replacement forecasted.

It's also to be cautious, because often the demand structure changes. When ORY switched to CDG recently, I had to reallocate a lot of domestic routes to the new ORY, as CDG has far less domestic demand than the old ORY.

Also, all your flight timings will stay the same at first, but be careful - often the new airport is slightly further away (or nearer) or has longer taxi-times, or even a curfew. If you edit a route after it's auto-moved, even YEARS later, the timing will often change at that point.  If you're departing just before closure (or arriving right at opening time), either at the destination or back at origin, this can screw things up. HND-NRT is a classic (yeah I know HND doesn't actually close) - when flights move across, the curfew will be ignored and you might have night flights. You won't be able to edit these in any way. They can be transferred en-mass between aircraft of the same fleet group, but that's about it.

You'll be fine in most cases though.

Also, seeing Gazzz's comment about about ORY-CDG reminds me of a very neat 'trick' you can use to gain a big advantage when airports move, but I'll leave that for people to work out for themselves as it would probably be classed as cheating if you did it intentionally. I discovered it totally by accident.
