older types early days

Why do older types such as the C46, although plentiful on market, all suddenly get converted to freighters within a short time? I have previously been able to fly these economically until the 60s but now that every single 46 on the market is freight I have to start to uneccessarily change my fleet. It seems a bit all or nothing. Ive looked at similar sized planes as alternative and the same happens to things like DC3 and Viking. Is it deliberate or is it a bit of a software bug?

so with only 3 c46 freighters in use, 390 are available on market, with 75 pax 46 in use there are none on market and all have been scrapped or converted. Seems unbalanced.

Its posible to convert pax to cargo. Maybe its also posible the other way, cargo to pax?
