Nominal Range

Why is it that a plane that is listed to fly a nominal range of 3070 can't fly a range of 2200 without taking half loads?

do a forum search on winds aloft, plenty of info on this

If the discrepancy is so large then I'd say it is a runway limitation at either airport.

But you have to be a bit more specific on which aircraft, route etc. is in question.

There is honestly so much confusion about aircraft range for newer players, I'm wondering if it would be a better idea to list range based of a maximum density config, or a wind adjusted range (using a near worst case headwind) or just list 2 ranges, the current standard plus worst case headwind adjusted. Would make things a ton clearer.

or have the advisor, that can be disabled, say "are you sure due to winds aloft ...link to url.." when putting a route onto an unsuitable plane.

ditto too many fleets, opening new base etc etc

Winds and too many fleets seem the biggies to me, those days. Take off during the night could help as well - this one is a slow, silent killer, new players can't get what they do wrong.
