Hi guys,

whats everyones thoughts on this aircraft? Thinking of ordering some for my thin regional routes.

Thanks

NovemberCharlie

I'm currently flying them out of Kathmandu in the HAF world and I am very content with them.
In my seven day schedule they also fly some routes overnight with payload restrictions (longest is 1016nm) and that is profitable (with high fuel prices, but no competition).
Big plus in my opinion as it allows me to fly them for 18.6 hours per day in stead of leaving them still overnight!

One aircraft is operating as my only out of HQ aircraft and is also performing excellent. All domestic airports in Nepal have a curfew 0600-1800 and it is still profitable.

If you only use the long routes to fill in the gaps and are able to fly it mainly on short flights I'd say: go for it!

Thanks for the reply, would you say a minimum 4 sectors per day for it to be profitable?

Currently in AG, in 1995, a ~1000NM route that sells 16 pax and 0 cargo makes ~$3000/flight. 600NM with 16 pax and 200kg cargo makes ~$4000. 600NM with 24 pax and 250kg makes $6,000. The plane flying those 3 routes made 78k last week, before staff, etc.

More shorter routes will make more money, if you have them and can fill them. Extrapolating from what I've got, a plane with 24 pax each way on 220NM route would make ~$5,000. On a 575NM route, ~$5,000. On a 990NM route, ~$5,200. If you change that to $/hr for the round trip, shorter routes clearly make more money. The extra revenue from a longer trip is somewhat offset by the extra fuel cost. And for small planes, the landing and pax fees make a big difference, smaller airports work better than thin routes to bigger airports. But they can still turn a profit flying longer, flying redeyes, even flying 2,000NM techstopped routes because you can.

Best way to work out what a plane can do is fly it and see what happens. ;)
