Aircraft Configuration

I had a question regarding creating a new aircraft configuration.  When I select an airplane to lease sometimes I want to change the configuration.  So I create a new one, name it and enter it.  I then get a green box saying that "this screen will disappear in a few seconds."  And it doesn't.  Ever.  I have to back out of the airplane I want and try to acquire it again before the new configuration will show up.  Is this something in the program or is it just being odd?
