Looking to hear of any success stories of basing in the New Zealand market. There seems to be usually a single airline at AKL, in some instances two, so I think this may be a good place to operate without competition. The Domestic market is almost entirely regional and can likely be serviced by prop planes/RJs. The International market is decent sized as well but most destinations are very far away. It seems like it may be a good choice in a crowded GW but its small size may limit expansion in the future. Normally this might not be a problem in smaller countries in the Middle East, Asia, South America etc. as there is room to grow in medium haul international and long haul, but NZ either has Ultra-Ultra-Long-Haul to Europe which can't be accomplished without tech stops or the 77L or medium haul international to Australia or other Oceanic islands, but there's only a limited number of those.
Has anyone had success in the NZ market? If so, how?
Thanks,
