Ordering aircraft on the first day

As far as I'm aware, it is only possible to order 2 aircraft on the first day.  I have leased 1 straight away and have a pending order for 1 more.

How is it that there are a number of airlines that have pending orders for more than 1 aircraft?

Have I missed something?

NorgeFly

Apparently there was an error when the game first started that meant the restriction wasn't in place immediately. Those who managed to order more than two aircraft were the lucky few who got in before the restriction was put in place. Bummer we missed out  >:(

Really?  Thats very annoying.  I was on here as soon as both games launched, so it must have been a brief error.

Thanks for the info though.

Good luck :)

It was only first 5 minutes, said Sami.

Like I already replied to your PM:

If one orders new planes you can get more than two, but of course you get them after like 3-4 months. Max two ORDERS in first day but single order for NEW planes can have manu aircraft. But if you order only used aircraft then you can get only two.

The bug mentioned didn't affect others than one single airline to my knowledge...

NorgeFly

It's not really that much of an advantage as we will be able to order soon as the game day changes then we will only be one day behind with our 3rd aircaft. I'm not too worried about it! But good luck guys!  ;D

Sami

Plus I would be actually more worried of those who order too many aircraft right from the start.. As you WILL need some spare money at the first few months.

oooh that sounds interesting! I am intrigued :)

at the start i leased a used aircraft, then went and ordereleased a new aircraft. Then tried to lease a used aircraft again and it didnt let me. The game has just started so i went and ordered that aircraft. 2x 737 and 1 dasault :D

Fleet Comonality is your friend in the begining. Don't find out the hard way. ;)

Maybe, some aircraft is better than none. Sometimes we just cant keep getting the same aircraft.

So you are opting for the hard way...  ;)

Had to order two Sopwith Camels. There are zero planes available!!!!

Jps

When starting the game and choosing the first plane, it's usually good to choose a plane that you think will be available later on, too. So it's usually not good to take the plane everyone wants, like the 737. MD-80s are usually good, though it varies game-by-game, which airplanes the airlines favor the most.

Branmuffin

I don't doubt the necessity of fleet commonality, but what exactly makes it so paramount?  Playing the devil's advocate here; As long as the aircraft is making money on its routes and paying the lease, what's the problem with a bunch of A/C types?

Talentz

Because the "profit section" doesnt show you the two biggest expenses. Labor costs and fleet comm costs.

All your aircraft can be making "profits" but still lose money every week.  Having less fleet types reduces your overhead costs.

Sure, its not a huge deal now. But 5 years down the line, that extra 5-10% your spending in fleet comm costs could end up bankrupting you when other expenses start going out of whack.

True, in game 3 labour cost for me was over $120m a week!

kados

Exactly, so why wait 4-6 months for a new aircraft of choice when you can get multiple different aircraft at the start that suits you with a 1 year contract. After that one year you can start to streamline your airplanes once you get your routes settled. I believe at the start it is all about getting some capacity on your routes to deter your competitors onto other routes. My two cents anyway.

Well, Fleet Comonality surely can save some cost
But considering the availability of planes in used market, sometimes we'd better pick different planes simply because we can generate some profit.
If we just sitting there wait for the rightful plane, no profit will be made.
