Cargo Conversion

I just bought a plane in the hope of converting it to a freighter.

But the option has not appeared....

Any ideas?

It is in the Beginners world and I wanted to convert an A320...

Tha_Ape

What's the current date?
The A320P2F is supposed to enter service around now IRL, iirc.
Then add the +- 18 months randomization in the game.

Talentz

The game time is Oct 2013. The A320-200/A321-200 conversion becomes available in 2018/19.

Thanks.

But I cannot afford a new one...need to buy an old one and convert.

Which I tried to do...but am not allowed to convert :-(

I understand that conversions are not available during initial phase of a model's lifetime but the A320 has been around a long time...since 1989 or so?

It was a large investment of funds to try to make a freighter! And I seem to be unable to.

Any advice appreciated!

You could use the A320 you bought as collateral on a bigger loan and use that loan to expand your operations.

@ johnlattanzio

Read the answers Talentz and I already made ;)

The conversions are not available "after a certain lifetime" but at the same date the conversions were made available in real life. And the A320/321 P2F are not yet available in your BW because it's too early (2013 vs 2018/19).

Yes...but I thought of that :-) (I am not 100% new but still quite rusty!)

There was no cargo when I last played this game...

Anyway - there seems to be NO FREIGHT versions of my A318/319/320 fleet available. WEll, I cannot afford new so i have been looking at used. None.

There are some freighters of other fleets but I don't think it wise to start a new kind just for a little freight.... Basically none of my flights are doing any good with freight except ONE that is always 100% and the demand seems to be a factor of 10 more than mu flights can handle. So...I thought a freighter would make sense. But not worth starting a new fleet type...

Incidentally there seems to be no way to search (used) aircraft for freight versions specifically?

Happy to use this plane ass collateral for a freighter if I can... Or even happier if I can convert it myself :-)

Oh...sorry!

I thought you were referring to NEW freighters!

Hmmm. So we have to know (find out!) when freighter conversions became available? Is there a list of that somewhere?

Sorry... I misunderstood your initial reply.

Thanks!

Every alliance is struggling to update their respective "all A/Cs" file. Kind of a nightmare for the old planes, but from the 80s on you can usually find the info quite easily on internet.

However, there has been a request for Sami to publish a file where the conversion trees are understandable (even if in some cases like the DC-8 it's quite complicated). Would be great if this file could integrate the dates as the conversions are not the most important  thing when choosing a fleet type, but could still make a difference. Especially in the 90s, when as large plane viable both as freighter you basically have the 737 Jurassic (DC-9 and 727 are getting old quite earlier), but nothing new until the 737-300F which comes also pretty late... A huge gap, at least as for the A/Cs present in the game to this day.

Basically, I got the impression that "mixed" airlines got to limit to 2 class size, usually at 2 fleet types and then the 3rd fleet slot available for when there's such a gap.
