No I am not new at this game, and have operated a few  ( relatively) successful  airlines .
I have never seen two things that happen in the real, world occur here . They are strikes and accidents. By accidents I don't mean tragic ones, but ones in which the airplane is a total loss.
Please don't throw the book at me ...a kind informative answer will suffice !

World events was introduced not long ago to throw some extra spice into the game. Even if many of these event are repeated and a rail strike is not likely to happen in Fiji i believe that many of them are based on what airports can experience in real life being it weather, people, accident, fire etc. causing delays.

Many of these event have been inspired by real life event (stock market crash and volcano activity for example to mention a few of the rare ones) and i can confirm that on my way back home last week from EGLL one runway was shut down temporarily due to a bird strike causing an awful long que to the second runway

Accidents do not happen.

But your staff can go into strike (skip their payraise demands for too long). And you might be affected by third-party strikes too, like Hassel pointed out.

If accidents do not happen, then what is the point of the different insurance groups for aircraft?

I understand that if leasing aircraft it isn't possible to pay less insurance however it still seems a bit unrealistic that accidents will never happen tbh.. Is there a reason why 'freak' accidents are not included?

Its also unrealistic that as virtual airline CEO's we get to change the cost of our insurance for our fleet yet knowing we would never have to worry about losing an aircraft to an accident once we are successful enough to purchase aircraft.

Probably as placeholder? Just like all those remarks about cargo.

As a health and safety chap for a rather large airline in the U.K., hull lose accidents is a very dirty word that is only mentioned when there is a full moon and you are touching wood.  I believe Sami is in the industry too and I imagine writing into the code the possibility of aircraft crashes and the loss of aircraft would be counter cultural.

I asked this question, and was with a major airline of 40 + years.  Personally ( unfortunately) in those 40 years , I happened while working to be, at the airport location of 3 major crashes ...one with catastrophic consequences ! This things do happen, and I understand the sensitivity issues that go with it . A way to skirt them, is to have accidents without loss of life ..just equipment..that is a permissible hazard in my book.
