Flanker Aircraft Strategy?

In my quest to grow I've seen a lot of routes where either me or my competitors don't cover entire demand. That is if the route demand is 200, the demand covered is around 140 to 150. Just wondering in this case if a flanker aircraft strategy would work. That is I would fly in say a CRJ 100 (pax 50) and cover the gaps. I understand that flying a CRJ my profit would be  lower than say even a 737, but it would mean a much higher LF for me and I wouldn't necessarily have to cut prices, especially if I fly during different times of the day compared to the main flight servicing the route

Has any one tried this? Has it worked for them? Any pitfalls or issues with following such a strategy?

If you can afford to buy crj - definatly

If there is spare capacity on the route even the leaseing will give you a profit. And remember if you can give the pax a more comfortable ride than cattle class, your planes will fill up even if capacity is reached. Try to avoid red eye flights as no-one likes travelling through the night, don't worry if your flights are the same time as another flight already routed does'nt seem to make a difference in this game if all flights are at 12noon or every hour.

Good luck :)
