Does it cost to open a route but not schedule it?

Hey everyone in new here and so far I've got an addiction! Lol. Anyway I've got a question regarding opening a route. Does it cost game currency to open a route without scheduling it? I always find decent routes but don't have the fleet to schedule the flights and want to in a sense que up a few routes and when I've got enough routes for a new plane, purchase the plane then schedule the flights to the new aircraft.

If you don't purchase slots when you open the route then it doesn't cost anything. And if you're scheduling routes before purchasing aircraft you won't want to purchase slots anyway since they'll expire if you don't use them. Just be sure when opening your route to check the "do not buy slots for this airport" for both the departure and destination airports.
