What aircraft to chose : F27-200 or Hawker Siddeley?

After playing for several days in Game world#1 I've managed to create a profitable company (for a while). But... the longer I play the more I afraid to make wrong decisions and to start from scratch again:)
Even when chosing a plane:)

Here is the question then:)

What aircraft is suitable better for distance 1000 nm and transportaion of 50 passengers? Foccer F.27-200 or Hawker Siddeley HS748 SRS.2B? both of them are turbofan and I'm not sure about what to choose and is there an alternative reactive aircraft? or... probably appear in close future?

Thanks in advance.

I would say.... neither.

Transporting 50 passengers over 1000 miles is not going to be very economical whichever aircraft you use.  There will nearly always be a better use for the aircraft that will make more money.  In the time it takes to fly a 1000 mile route with a turboprop (not turbofan) you could fly three shorter routes and make twice as much profit.

Can you think of any real life routes that are operated with these kind of aircraft over these distances?  The simulation is very realistic and real life should be your guide here.  Routes of this lengh don't really become profitable to fly with turboprops until faster aircraft such as the Saab 2000 or Q400 become available.  Even then... they are marginal.

Having said that....  if you must fly these routes then I'd say the F.27 is probably slightly better. Both aircraft are good and I have used both in the past but the F.27 is faster which makes a big difference on longer routes.  It also needs less crew and has cheaper maintenance so will cost less to operate. The HS748 burns a little less fuel per hour and carries 15% more passengers but costs more to buy or lease and the fuel "saving" will be wiped out because it will take longer to fly the same route.

It all depends if you have the spare money to run these routes and probably make a very small profit, or if you have other things you could better spend it on.

It's already tricky yo fly 1000NM routes with E145s or CRJs. I've done it with success, but it requires a lot of micromanagement in term of pricing, and you're screxed if there is any competition. Plus you'll lose money for the first few months, and for this plane size, marketing of RI is not worth it.

I've done it because I had no other path to growth. But it is, and should be, a rather desperate move. Doing it with turboprops seems even trickier to me.

Remember, the standard rule is at least 1 pax potential per 10NM. Fill everything you can in that range, then go for another base. Only if you're short on bases, then try to expand to more risky distances. With purchased planes. And be ready to micro-manage pricing. And know that my A148Es were doing, in previous GW3, for the same LF, less daily income on 2000NM lines than on 200NM lines. yeah, true. They can do it, but it's not very profitable.
