Airline mergers?

This is probably a stupid question, but bear with me...

From time to time airlines in the game give press releases saying they are merging. As far as I know the game does not support this, so I would like to know what the players actually mean by this. If airlines want to co-operate, why not form an alliance? Have you actually come up with ways to have closer co-operation than the alliance function permits, or is this just roleplaying?

very last part my friend! they aren't actually merging, they are just saying it for the sake of it....   wait...i'm included in that   My airline's owner (NOT ACTUAL OWNER), Daneluft, just merged with Swedish Wings. muh.....i'm not really liking it anymore just kidding! it's GREAT to be owned by another airline!

I see, thank you for the clarification. Owning the competition is something I do all the time but I've never thought of owning my allies.

Correct. There is no feature in game. Its purely player based.

Because alliances are not as .. personal. I guess. Merging can go deeper then what alliances offer.

Yes and Yes. It is roleplaying. However, in the case of my merger. It goes beyond that.

In beta1, we had are first prime time merger between two french carriers. I forget who they were and names ect. But that opened the door for further mergers later down the line.

Come beta2, In what I would say the higher profile merger between Texas Airways and AirHolland. The owners Talentz and Wparoubek, respectfully. We formed the airline/company Globe Connect Inc®. As such, in any game we play in, if you see us using Globe Connect xxx ect, it implies we are playing as a merged airline.

Which means we work very closely to run our airlines with each other. My problems and his problems become our problems. We work together to solve them. My actions are his actions and his actions are my actions. We work as one in the game world. His views reflect me and mine reflect him. Good or bad....

Basically, all the things that go through your head when running your airline, we share. Work together ect.


Lasty, I wont tell you in detail what we do in working together. But I will say this, we both are fully empowered to solve problems on each of our accounts.


Now, outside of Globe Connect "airlines", press releases and ect.. we are normal for lack of a better term. For example, my airline in game 2 is not a "Globe Connect" airline. Thus, I am not in a merged setting. Nor do I act as one. What I do and/or not do is independent of what Globe Connect's actions, views, ways of business ect. Much like a normal, independent airline.

Its when we play as Globe Connect, do we work together to handle problems in game. That's what it means to be "merged", to us.

To me, that is what a really good alliance would be like. They are necessarily not like that, so I can see why you would want to develop something deeper.

Better not tell me, because the Terms of use do not exactly encourage solving problems on each other's accounts.
