EU Open Skies is the only one available so far.

There are various open skies deals around the world, but gathering reliable data on those has proven to be difficult.

I am bumping this old thread.

ASEAN-SAM is a partial agreement of open skies and not comparable to full free market of EU for example. Only 3rd, 4th and 5th freedom rights are allowed in ASEAN, and it remains unclear if all participating countries have yet ratified the deal supposed to take place in 1.1.2011, and this even only for full 5th freedom between capital cities only.

Similar story with Yamoussoukro (Africa), and Caricom (Caribbean), which were requested.

The 'bases' feature of AWS does give 5th freedom, but crucially also 7th-9th which the agreement does not allow in the real world. So it's not entirely realistic to model these. But on the other hand, there is some sort of real life free market agreement in force between these countries and the countries are usually of lesser focus to normal AWS players, giving us some more interesting choices.

MALIAT agreement, Singapore, Brunei and New Zealand, give full 7th freedoms (Chile and US also signing but not participating in this part of the agreement).

Interesting. For what it's worth, I'd say there are numerous "non-realistic" aspects to this AWS game that have been put in to control how the players operate going against real world realism. I get it - (though some of them I feel are outdated and could do with new and better methods), but that is all another topic addressed many times I think by many players.

I do however think that certain regions of this AWS game should be opened up a bit to give a much better gaming experience:- Not many players ever really bother to develop said Caribbean areas - I'd say just impliment Caricom anyway and brighten up this game experience. Same for Africa - just impliment the "Yam" decision (I think it allows A-B-C-B-A flights between 44 African countries). How much extra fun this would add.

This is a game after all. It should be fun and I personally don't think this would harm a single aspect of the great reality that we do have in the game already.

I think, given the existence of LATAM in Latin America, and AirAsia in Southeast Asia, it seems like real life airlines group are overcoming the issue of air traffic right by opening up subsidiaries in different countries. Which I guess could be a way to attract players into trying to establish smaller airlines in smaller countries. But a potential problem is how that balance against companies operated by small player, or would large player operating large airlines group simply invade every countries
