Fleet Commonality

I noticed today that the fleet group for the 757 and 767 are separate groups for crew training ect.  These aircraft share a common type rating and training program in the real world, why are they not a common fleet in the game?  There should be a cost reward for keeping common types ect, and i think this is a common area that might have been overlooked.

There are differences in this game from the 737 100-200, 300-500, 700-900...

The 747 100-300 doesnt share the same as the 400...

Essentially, you will be doing fine with your Boeing fleet commonality.

He's right though, my cousin flew 76 and 75's forTWA/American.....he'd go from one to the other every rotation.

These two really should be in the same fleet, if reality is what we are going for here.

woah good job i didnt pick up both off the used market, i too asumed they were part of the same fleet group

Same can go for the DC-9/MD-80 series.... in reality the MD-80s are certified at DC9-81, DC-9-82, etc.  A type rating even on the B717 is a type on the DC-9.

Same can be said for the Boeing 737's, I have a type rating from B737-300/900/BBJ. Its just the 100/200's that are not included. Maybe these commonality issues could be updated in the near future and save us all money! :D

It's a bit difficult as the scheduling "commonality" is one thing and then there is maintenance/crew commonality.

Scheduling commonality is the basic thing that means that all B767 series schedules/routes work with any 767 model as the flight times are calculated the same.

If we'd wish to combine for example maintenance benefits of MD-80 and MD-90, they'd have to be in the same fleet group and with current system use the same scheduled speed also. This probably wouldn't work. And also having -80 & -90 is not a full commonality, it only has limited benet*** as they still are two separate models.

...so ... it's a bit tricky thing.

(same applies for other models too, these just as examples).
