Airplane expenses

Hi

I have a question. I want to buy one of two possible planes.

One have 55 places and the other 70. ANyway, the bigger one uses less fuel per hour and is a little quicker.

If I use the bigger one on a 55 pax demanding route I'll have a lower load factor. But what about the expenses/profit?

Will they be the same or better with the bigger plane due to less fuel use?

Thanks.

Specifically, which two planes are you looking at? There's more to consider than just fuel burn.

However, if most of your routes are 70 pax routes with a few 55's mixed in, then I'd likely run the bigger plane...

Thanks for answering

The two planes are quite similar. They are the Fokker 28 and the BAC 111.

The latter seem more convenient (with the exception of the price that is higher).

My routes, unfortunately, are more toward 55 pax than 70 as I need it to substitute all my Fokker 27. Anyway the BAC could also be used to substitute some of my old Constellations.

So I can use BAC everywhere under 1000nm and the Comets for longer routes. Anyway I'm worried for the profit in the lower capacity routes that, at the moment, are the base of my income.

I would definitely go for the BAC since you have more flexibility in terms of models / variants (as you can go to nearly 100 seats there).

But BAC is indeed half step bigger then with longer turnaround, one more cabin crew and higher maintenance costs. F28 will have also streched variants after the series 1000.

Curse

The BAC-1-11 production line is usually extremely occupied while the F28 are available all the time.

Maybe important if you can not afford a constant stream of aircraft.

At the end I've decided for the F28.

They are cheaper and fit better in my routes demanding. Have a shorter turnaround so it will be easier to organize the scheduling.

And, if I order them now, they will arrive exactly when I need to replace the F27s at the end of leasing.

Also, for more demanding routes I can send more of them (compared to the bigger BAC) to help with competition.

Thanks for help.

Sounds like a strategy, good.
