Is this a good idea?

Hi you all,

While I wait for some mentor to help me, could anybody tell me which is best?

At the moment I have a route I fly twice a day with the same plane: Y200 | C5 (so at a day I offer 400 Y seats and 10 C seats). Is it a good idea to maintain this, or is it better to fly just once a day with a bigger plane offering the same seats?

At this moment I have a LF Y-76% and C-90%

Thanx!

With these few dates nobody outside your actual world can answer that question. There is no general rule of thumb that would be always right, it depends on many circumstances like demand, your fleet (-politics), flight times, fares, competition. More than one flight is a pro on frequency and a con on costs, just to mention one general argument that comes to mind.

I'm in Beginner's World #2. There is a demand around 350 pax and I am the only airline doing that route.

When I'm planning routes, I have a look at the estimated demand. If it is around 200 pax (and there is nobody else doing that route): Is it better two flights offering 100 seats one in the morning and another one in the afternoon? Or is it possible to get a LF 100% with just one flight offering 200 seats?

I guess it is difficult to give "mathematical rules", but: what would you do?

Thanks again!

You will get the same amount of PAX of the estimated demand, whether you will serve it with one or two planes, LF´s depend on the size of used plane, so that is not a good measure to work with.
Many factors ,like RI,CI, fare and flight times determine, which share of the estimated demand you will get. You will only reach 100 and maybe more, if RI/CI are high enough and the price is right.
Which plane you use is dependant on the kind of fleet you use. (Don´t order a new model because it seems just right for that route). If you can choose because you fly those types anyway, I would first serve the destination once with the small plane until RI/CI build up, then double it up with the second. All given the fact, that you can use your bigger aircraft appropiately elsewhere (for longer routes).

I understand now.

Thank you very much. I'll try to follow your advice.
