Has anyone made a profit out of running small (9-20 seater) aeroplanes?

Dazwalsh

they would have to be run between very close small airports to make money i think but it should be possible, especially with the 20 seaters.

im a huge fan of the 50-70 seater props they make a good bit of money and are cheap to run.

nope me, I only used 50 seaters so far but since ticket price at short range is pretty much the same the shorter the route the better so you can get at least 5+ flights per day.

Dazwalsh

yeah i try for 5 flights a day, good turnaround times on the props too

I'm about to give it a try with the Beech 1900D's. In one beta game I did order Twin Otters and it turned out to be a highly marginal venture.

I got my start with DHC-8-100's in Game 2, so I suspect there's promise for the 1900's too.

its all risk vs reward.  It is easy to corner a short route and few will ever try to compete against you.

I use 50 seater turboprops for regional routes under 700 nm and I am considering taking ATR72 for well established routes and I am quite happy with that, cheap experimenting with routes, swapping a/c for C checks, leasing vs buying, and so on.
When I learn on small aircraft I will go for big ones, but as to the profit, I can not complain.
