It was posted by sami that small airlines won' be able to go over 50 in Company Image (CI).

It has been asked (and I think never answered) what does "small airline" mean? 10? 20? 50? planes?....

Can sami answer this please? Thank you.

I don't have the post, but I recall something similar, but came away with a different understanding... that there was not much benefit of going over 50 CI for an airline concentrating on "small" aircraft.

I could be wrong, but my impression was that this applied to those who want to be "regional"...that is, flying mostly aircraft that carry fewer pax.  The factor is not number of aircraft the airline has, but the carry capacity of the small aircraft.  CI is used in calculating how the pax demand is allocated on a competitive route.  CI significantly beyond 50 will not push many more passengers towards a small capacity aircraft than will get with CI at 50 (all else being equal).

So, from a cost effectiveness point of view, CI=50 was optimal for these airlines was my take away.

If you're flying all turboprops (or smaller), it's not practical to get your CI above 30, anyway.
