Slot cost

Jona L.

Hey everyone.

Since we all do PAY for this game/simulation, I'd say, let's put democracy into place.

I'm posting this poll to see how the general public responds to the latest change in the slot system (see THIS link).

If the development "team" can't manage to make slot releases random, they should not try to fix the problem by adding ridiculous fees. And before anyone comments, if it were random, how would people figure the system out, causing this thing in the first place.

So I'm asking to go back to the original pricing system, and just let more development force flow into a random release system, then into this weird method of prevention. This again makes small airlines completely INOPERABLE (i.e. 30 seat planes). Something that was worked hard on, to be made worth while.

This is a time where alliance rivalries should be set asides, and we have to act as THE COMMUNITY to prevent this game from going FAR downhill. In the end we all love Airwaysim (why else would we play it), and we should care for it.

Please cast your votes here, and let us hope the administration will listen to the customers.

cheers,
Jona L.

This poll to be useful needs to be pushed by email to all AWS users.
Anyway I vote NO as I like the new criteria, but I also think it should be better if implemented only in new game worlds.

I'm trying to promote it through my channels, but I doubt that sami will send it around through emails.

I can understand that, this is why I gave the "no" option :)

I agree the new system is terrible idea.  It had good intentions, but it is just not going to work.  How can there be achievement goals implemented that create the desire to want to make a massive airline (even more incentive than there already was), and yet at the same time penalize large airlines for their strategies?  $40M for 7 slots a week is just outrageous.

I'm running an airline in Atlanta that has very little slots left with 6 other airlines competing for what little opportunity there is.  I didn't complain though, I just had to modify my strategy.

Jona stop this s***.

The system will stay as an short term solution, in the long term sami hopefully makes a much better system to stop people preplan and take up all the new released slots, what the vote instead should be about, is if we shall restart the game world, so all can play on the new more fair terms.

Well, Sunbao, in short term all airlines major as well as small will be screwed over. This is something that you DO NOT change in a running system, it happened before with major changes, and some important ones were left to wait till game end. The point of this vote is, to give a feedback to the service provider on what the customers think/demand.

Sitting in front of the computer and hunting for slots is stupid - it brings no fun to the game. I and I can frankly say that I am going to quit it if it will be like it was, because I'm not that fool to spend time on such a mechanical thing. Because AWS is more like a chess, not Doom, so I am sure IRL no one is standing in front of Heathrow office waiting for the slots, day and night.

Regarding the possible solutions- yes, short run price increase could work, but also Jona is right: it is not possible to operate regional planes under current situation. So, the only long run solution is this city based demand system, which everyone has been talking for years. It is not that difficult to implement, in my view.

Second offer would be, to have ques for the slots, in the same way as it is with planes - then it is possible to plan and schedule something. The main advantage is that everyone will be in the same situation, more or less.

There is nothing wrong with asking the community, the people who pay money, what they think about this radical changes in a running game. Strategies are screwed up and for some strategies that ware tough already this game has become unplayable.

Sorry, but I do not like this going into a shout vote. Please continue in the other thread if more comments.
