What's the point of increased payload variants?

Updated Yak-40 is pretty and shiny and makes money but...

I can buy either a standard variant with 2880kg payload or increased payload 3240kg variant... but there's no point because I can't get extra 4 pax onboard.

I understand reluctance to add lots of variants of a single plane but adding useless (before cargo at least) payload variant is irritating.
Following the same logic - Why do we have 3 near identical variants of pipers anyway? Or why is F27 combi a separate plane? Why is Metro and Metro II differentiated? What's the point of HS748 2A vs 2B?

I hope there is Yak-40K ingame at least... I can live without RL 36 pax if I get 34 ;P

Added mainly because such models have existed in real life, and once they are added, no need to dig data again after some feature is added. Etc.

In other words if you do it, do it properly at once.

So why not do it properly for Yak-40 series which also existed? What's the difference in workload between adding an increased payload variant vs copy-pasting and making a 24, 30, 34 seat variants* ;)

*only those are possible @ 95kg per pax

PS2. Just a curiosity: German General Air bought Yak-40s for 3.6 mil DM a piece, which equals 1.13-1.47 mil $ (72-75).
