If you fly long haul does it then affect passengerrates negatively if you take of before 02 and land after 05 so you are int the air between 2 and 5?

Generally, passengers dont like taking off after 23.00 or landing before 06.00 : they dont seem to mind flying over that period though. So, if you can time your overnight flights to achieve that, you'll be fine on that aspect. You can creep into that period with a take-off or landing, but it will affect your loads ; a small price cut on that leg of the journey can help overcome this. Doing both take-off and landing inside that period will get poorer results ; but even with a price cut, such 'red-eye flights' can turn a fair profit and do help utilise your aircraft fully.

There is quite some hard penatly for taking off or landing in the night. The penalty is less between 5 and 6 a.m., and in frequency markets (i.e. shorthaul) I find it safe to have aircraft movements during that hour, but for long hauls I recommend not to schedule between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.
It's not always possible to adhere to that if you want your scheduling as efficient as possible, I have some long hauls taking off or landing between 5 and 6 myself, but generally it is to be avoided if you want max profits.
