Hey guys i just punched in a few numbers now anyoen else notice how if u do all 1 year leases that u can terminate the lease in front of a c check and get a new aircraft with no need for a c check saving about 500k - 1.2 mil at a time? Offcourse this only works with used aircraft whose lease terms are in 1 year increments.

Anyone else have experience?

haha yeah thats my current plan, lease planes for a year until I can BUY a replacement

If you are a large enough airline, C-checks do not really hurt your airline because you have other aircraft that are turning profits. when you have a fleet of 10 or more aircraft you pretty much always have an a/c in C-check.

right but the prob is 4 of em are going into c check at once and i dont want to loose image for that route if i go 2 weeks without flying a route will the image drop down from 100 - 50 ?

More like from 100 to 90. Or something small and ineffective like that.

As a small airline, junking C check due aircraft does have its benefits. But, once you go over ..15 or so.. its too much work. Plus, at that stage, you should be earning enough to pay for C checks.

Its up to you, of course.

IMHO .. not worth of letting go of an plane because of a C check .. unless it's in poor cond or very old. (see how much they cost first)

D check is another matter ..
