As you may have heard, UA is launching DEN-NRT with a 787 starting 3/30/12, which I am fairly excited about.
It has been loaded into SHARES, so I am able to book it at united.com (and it does show 788 as equipment). My question is: United doesn't seem to have any Y+ on the 788 (according to the seat map I can pull up). Is this because this a CO-ordered bird? Will it get Y+ before it gets delivered?
1. I don't think the date 3/30/12 is correct.
2. Yes, it was a CO-ordered bird.
3. Nonetheless, it should have E+ when it is delivered. I don't know for sure about timeframe. But CO has announced that E+ is staying, so it will be on the 787. And CO has been moving pretty quickly to retrofit its existing planes with E+, so it makes sense that CO would just have the 787 delivered with E+ in, rather than having to reconfig it separately later. The reason the 3/3 SHARES cutover was a huge debacle is because Smisek said that he prefers to have one big
heart attack heart surgery than five little heart surgeries, so the same logic would apply here.
Me personally I'm kind of fed up with UA, so I matched my UA 1K status over to AA EXP, and I am not sure if I will be going back to UA or not...hoping to decide after a few more months of "wait and see" period to see if UA gets its act together.
