Sigh

I just can't win.  All of my routes are losing money.  ALL of them.  I am negative 1 million dollars after filing for bankruptcy for the second time last night.   My home base is O'Hare, and I'm flying to places like Denver, Dallas, Atlanta, etc.   ALL of them negative profit.

I'm bleeding money out the bottom and I have no way to stop it.

Help!

Don't fly the to the mega cities. Fly to some places that have suitable demands for the aircraft your running aka if you have a 100-seater get a route with 110 passengers or something. That's how I got in the top 3 in our beta games.  ;D

Also reduce price 10% of the standard price, don't go any lower.

Looked up your airline .. and yea, that looks .. well, haven't seen that before. :o

Firstly the schedule is nicely packed but the 00-05 flight is probably a bad idea - at least after other airlines start to serve on that route too. Also you have the whole sunday empty, you can put flts there too.

Then your route prices are quite low, you could try to pump them up to the near original values and see what happens. But I think this will not help as the B707 is the biggest problem. If you open my aircraft page and that particular plane you see 'Financial overview, weekly estimate ' which already telss that the route profits are not enough to cover the fuel  and lease costs even.. And that does not include staff and marketing.

And also the B707 is poorly configured, 60/6/6 when max capacity is 210Y .. I'd recommend not to use other than standard class seats for domestic services and loose the F class if you aren't flying international. I think that config is the main problem .. you cannot sell so many seats to make it profitable. If you'd had it in let's say 180Y (standard seats) config, you'd be making profits probably.

Okay, all sounds good.  I guess I've been doing things wrong.   What's a good "first" airplane to run?

Try 737-300/400 for example, or 727?

It all goes down to the type of operations you want to run..

The 707 is fine... (in some cases even better than the 727) Use high-density seating.  ;D

i disagree, the 707 is not fine, most of them are approaching 20 years old and they burn an awful lot of fuel, 11,400KG per hour!!

compare this to a 757-200 or a 767-200, the fuel is about 3500-400KG per hour with a higher capacity, avoid the 707 like the plague, it was good in its day but its a bad choice if you ask me for the time period in the game. its also about 3 times more expensive to maintain.

my advice, if you want a large aircraft go for the A300/A310/B757/B767. carefully chose it based on Age and condition and if getting more than one check that it has the SAME engines and this saves you a load of money too.

Good luck in your next airline if you declare bankrupcy, and if you run into any difficulties give us guys a shout on here more than happy to help :)

Use high-density seating.  ;D
Only with high precaution. With high-desity seats, the passengers don't feel as good as when the seats were standard-size. And especially when your company image is low (<50 ) , you may have a great reduction in your LF's, and may even have less passengers on board than with standard seats although the other plane has more seats.
Also, it costs quite a lot to configure an aircraft into high-density, so it might be best to keep it as is, unless you wish to add C (and possibly F, if there is enough demand) classes.
