What happens to a flight that's in the air when I reschedule/cancel/transfer it?

I've always wondered about this...

Say it's 13:00 game time.  I have a flight on a 737 that leaves my hub at 11:00 and returns at 18:30.  I edit the schedule, changing the plane type to MD80. Once I click on Confirm, the route is no longer assigned to a plane. I then assign that route to an MD88. It is now 13:30 game time. What happened to the flight that was already in the air on the 737? Does it magically become an MD88 in midair? Or does the 737 fall out of the sky the instant I Confirm my route changes?

Or, what if I transfer that route from a 733 to a 734 during its scheduled time? Does that 733 morph into a 734 and sprout more passengers (and more profit) mid-flight?

If I manually start a C/D check on the above plane between 11:00 and 18:30, does the flight finish before going to the hangar? Or does it teleport straight to the shop? And what happens to the revenue from that flight that already departed?

And if I cancel a flight in progress ten minutes before it's scheduled to arrive, do I still get the revenue from that flight?  Or does it cease to exist retroactively and immediately divert to the Bermuda Triangle?

These are the kinds of things that keep me awake at night  :'(

I don't think the system is quite that particular.  I think, but I'm not sure, that it only does all the calculations at day-end.

So, if you changed the plane on a 0730 flight that night at 2300, it will be calculated with that new plane, even though you made the change long after the flight was begun and ended.

tvdan, the game only calculates the profits/losses at certain times.  There is just no way that this game can be up-to-the-minute for up to 500 airlines' planes.
